There is a LOT of learning that happens with online games. I am so grateful for cell phones in this life. It's such a great translation device. We were out to breakfast and I was having a hard time understanding what my non-verbal girl wanted to eat so I pulled up some images on Google with my phone and she could point to make a choice. No confusion, no frustration, no silliness in front of the waitress. Such a big help.

Because my girl can read and spell, we can also use the phone to decipher things she says. She kept repeating the unintelligible word all day - "sign mass" she kept saying and started to really get upset about it. I tried to explain that I did not know what she was saying, which only made her more upset. I picked up my phone and typed sign mass into google and showed it to her. She took the phone and corrected it - CINEMAS was what she wanted. So we went to the movies and had a nice day in the end.

We could tell our child was reading because at 2 she walked around the kitchen reading the labels of the groceries as we put them away - "bread" "crackers" etc. Boy was my MIL surprised...lol! She taught herself to read, using Starfall.com and I highly recommend it.
