At 11:45 PM on December 31st, the MJFD was dispatched to our last call of 2023 on Laurel Court in the Royal Oaks complex for a dumpster fire. Responders arrived to find a working fire in a trash dumpster, which was quickly extinguished by the crew from Engine 206. Additional responding units included Chief 200, the Monmouth Junction First Aid Squad, and SBPD.

Around 5:30 PM on December 30th, the MJFD was requested to provide a cover assignment for North Brunswick Fire Company #3 while they operated at a multi-alarm fire in an apartment complex. Engine 204 stood-by at the Cozzens Lane station before being released by command around 9:30 PM.

Just before 9 PM on December 21st, the MJFD was dispatched to Route 522 near Baker Street for a reported vehicle fire. Chief 200 arrived first and confirmed a working car fire. Crews from Engines 206 & 204 quickly extinguished the fire. Deputy Chief 210, the Kendall Park First Aid Squad, and South Brunswick Police all responded. This was the MJFD's 6th run for the day, which included a natural gas leak, (2) separate odor of smoke calls, an extinguished fire involving a bathroom ceiling fan, and a motor vehicle accident with entrapment.

Shortly after 2 PM on December 21st, the MJFD was dispatched to the intersection of Route 130 & Stults Road for a motor vehicle accident with entrapment. Units arrived on scene to find an SUV on its side with the driver trapped. Firefighters stabilized the vehicle and removed the windshield to extricate the driver. Responding fire units included Chiefs 200 & 210, Rescue 205, Engines 204 & 206, and Utility 209.

On Wednesday December 13th, the MJFD hosted the annual South Brunswick Township Fire Chief's dinner. This event is attended by the current and former chiefs of all three fire companies in South Brunswick, including Monmouth Junction, Kendall Park Volunteer Fire Company and Kingston Volunteer Fire Company #1. This year's dinner was held at the beautiful Cranbury Inn. Pictured are the current and past chiefs of the MJFD, representing 48 of the 99 years of Chiefs of the department, and an amazing 345 total years of membership.

The MJFD would like to thank South Brunswick Girl Scout Cadette Troop 80367 and Co-Leader Lori Lubieski-Hutmaker for the generous donation of stuffed animals. Members of the troop assembled the toys and distributed them to the township police, fire & EMS agencies. These toys are carried in our vehicles to be given to children during emergencies to make them feel better. Pictured are members of the troop presenting the stuffed animals to Chief Scott Smith this past Monday night.

The members of the Monmouth Junction Vol. Fire Department would like to ask the residents of our fire district who are registered voters to vote 'yes' at the special election on Tuesday December 12th. Please read the press release and contact the fire station at 732-329-0250 if you have any questions. Thank you!

The fire department is looking to replace the current fire truck which is over 30 years old. Election will be held Tuesday, Dec. 12.

As MJFD units were clearing a dumpster fire in Monmouth Walk, the MJFD was dispatched to another dumpster fire on North Umberland Way in the South Ridge Woods Apartments development. Units arrived to find a smoldering fire in a dumpster, also caused by discarded fireworks. The fire was extinguished by the crew of Engine 204.

Around 9 PM on November 12th, shortly after assisting the Kendall Park Volunteer Fire Company at a garage fire on Brittany Way, the MJFD was dispatched to Cheryl Court in the Monmouth Walk development for a reported dumpster fire. Engine 204 arrived first due and confirmed a small fire in a trash dumpster apparently due to discarded fireworks. The fire was quickly extinguished by the crew from 204. Also responding were Engine 206, Chiefs 200 & 210, and the Monmouth Junction First Aid Squad.

Around 8:45 PM on November 9th, the MJFD was dispatched to 1100 Cranbury-South River Road for a reported vehicle fire. Chief 200 arrived on scene first and confirmed a passenger vehicle in the parking lot fully involved. The fire was extinguished by crews from Engines 204 & 206.

On Thursday November 2nd, the MJFD hosted instructor Jerry Knapp from the Explosive Gas Academy. Instructor Knapp gave an outstanding presentation on responding to natural gas incidents. Be sure to check out the website (https://www.explosivegasacademy.com/) for a tremendous amount of information and resources on gas leak calls. We also highly recommend the book published by Fire Engineering which Jerry co-authored entitled "Tactical Response to Natural Gas Emergencies."

On Wednesday November 1st, the MJFD and Township Fire Safety Bureau wrapped up our fire safety presentations to the pre-school and kindergarten classes in our district by visiting Brooks Crossing Elementary School.

Around 1:20 PM on October 25th, the MJFD & Kingston FD were dispatched to a car fire on Whispering Woods Blvd. Units arrived to find a fully involved passenger vehicle. Crews from Engine 204 & Kingston Engine 245 extinguished the fire. Also responding were Chief 200 and Engine 206, Kingston Deputy Chief 250, SB Fire Safety Bureau, SB Police, SB EMS, and the Middlesex County Haz-Mat Team.
