This month (and every month) is a good time to practice self-care. Stress takes many forms and, while we may not be able to control the source of those stresses, we can take action to manage it. Here are some universal tips that can form the foundation of your personal stress management plan. Take care of yourself. Eat healthy, exercise regularly, get plenty of sleep, give yourself a break if you feel stressed. Discuss your problems. Talk with a parent, friend, or another trusted source. Avoid drugs and alcohol. Brain research now indicates that people exposed to stress are more likely to abuse alcohol or other drugs, or to relapse into drug addiction. Recognize when you need more help. Know when to talk to a psychologist, social worker, or counselor if things continue. (Source: American Institute of Stress) Need help connecting to resources? Yom HaShoah, or Holocaust Remembrance Day begins at sundown on April 23rd in 2025.
The date marks the anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising which began after German troops and police entered the ghetto to deport its surviving inhabitants. Jewish insurgents inside the ghetto resisted these efforts. This was the largest uprising by Jews during World War II and the first significant urban revolt against German occupation in Europe.
