For those who have not seen the results, Pam Loginsky and Thomas Bjorgen are moving on to the general election, having received the greatest number of votes. I want to thank everyone who voted, supported, donated, endorsed, and cheered me on. I cannot understate how much I have learned and how appreciative of everyone who has helped me in this endeavor.

With 24 hours left of balloting, Kitsap County has turned in 31,258 ballot while Thurston County has turned in 27,916, despite having 7485 additional registered voters. Given that four of my opponents live and work in Thurston County, it is imperative that Kitsap voters vote for Tom Weaver in greater numbers than Thurston. It's not too late to vote: Get your ballots postmarked by tomorrow!

Although doorbelling in 88 degree weather sometimes feels like death, I want you all to know the rumors of my death are very much exagerated. (See http://www.gosanangelo.com/news/2012/aug/04/death-notices-805/). I am still alive and ticking, albeit a tad sunburned.

Remember: Ballots are due in three days and I know most of you still have them because only 18.5% have been turned in. Fill in your ballot, vote for sunburned but definitely alive Tom Weaver, and turn them in. Please.

The following notices have been submitted for publication in the Friday edition of the San Angelo Standard-Times.

Today is my mother’s birthday and I want to take this opportunity to publically thank her for all she has done in the past couple of months to help me and my campaign. Whether it was walking in a parade, doorbelling, or just being there to listen, she has been great. Happy birthday, mom!

The Sequim Gazette reported today on last week's Judicial Forum in Sequim. It noted that three of the candidates did not appear. An excerpt from the article:

Weaver, a civil and defense attorney from Kitsap County, said he has argued more than 300 appeals and 400 to 500 trials in his 19 years of practice.

“I’ve defended the Constitution one person at a time,” he said.

Todd Ortloff of KONP asked the candidates a series of questions, one of which was, “What makes you the best candidate?”

Weaver said he is the best candidate because he has never represented government, big business or special interests but has always represented individuals.

Three candidates running for an open judge seat on the state Court of Appeals Division 2 for District 2 participated in a Sequim debate hosted by the FourC’s on July 23.

Daphne and I enjoyed the hospitality of the Northern Peninsula at the Jefferson County Fish Feed at the Fairgrounds in Port Townsend. It is events like this one that I enjoy the most on the campaign trail: speaking to everyday people about why I believe their votes on the judicial races matter the most.

With three Supreme Court races, a Court of Appeals race, and five contested Superior Court races in the six counties of Division II, District 2, it is imperative that voters educate themselves about the judicial races and VOTE!

On July 23, 2012, The Olympian ran a story highlighting the fact that Tom Weaver and Tom Bjorgen have the dual endorsement of retiring Court of Appeals Judge David Armstrong, the judge I am hoping to replace in January. Given my campaign slogan ("Balanced Justice for Everyday People"), Judge Armstrong's comments could not have come at a better time:

"In this case, Armstrong was approached by both candidates about an endorsement. “I don’t know the other candidates. I looked at their qualifications. I didn’t see anybody who compared to the two Toms,’’ Armstrong said in a telephone call. “. . . Armstrong said . . . about Weaver, whom he said is also competent, based on work he’s seen.
“He would bring some balance to the court in the sense he has been a public defender and I think most of his practice has been criminal defense,” Armstrong said, adding that three of the seven judges on the appeals court are former prosecutors.
“They are competent people but I think we need a balance on the court,” he said. “I look for a broader balance.’’"

Judge David Armstrong is retiring this year as Court of Appeals judge serving Thurston County and the Olympic Peninsula, and he is endorsing two lawyers as his replacement: Tom Bjorgen of Olympia and Tom Weaver of Port Orchard.

Major article in Kitsap Sun profiling Tom Weaver and one of his opponents. Note the sole reference to endorsements: retiring Judge David Armstrong’s endorsement of Tom Weaver!
http://www.kitsapsun.com/news/2012/jul/22/kitsap-appellate-candidates-met-before-states/

Defense attorney Thomas Weaver and prosecutor Pam Loginsky demonstrated contrasting styles in the only time they ever argued before the state supreme court against each other.

Although the Kitsap Sun decided not to endorse formally anyone in my race, it did make the following comments, "In the Court of Appeals, Div. 2, District 2, Position 2 race, three candidates stand out for consideration: Pam Loginsky, Thomas Bjorgen and Tom Weaver. Our board did not schedule a formal interview before the primary, but the three mentioned above are an easy choice to move ahead. Notable is Weaver, a Kitsap County native and appellate attorney in Bremerton."

Also, congrats to Bill Houser and Jennifer Forbes for the dual endorsement from the Sun. Voters have a tough choice in that race.
