*****BUOY TREE UPDATE!*****

Please message us to let us know if you're interested in donating your buoy to our auction. Proceeds will go to the Dartmouth Mom's Group @ St. Peter's Episcopal Church which will help to fund future community events, parties, play dates, & more!

We'll also be donating a portion of our proceeds to the Dartmouth United Outreach organization. Have you seen the green heart hope signs around town? That's them! Head over to their page and give them a "Like"👍 Last week alone they helped provide food to over 1,100 local residents in need. Here's a message from the Director Lyn Dillies:

"Dartmouth United Outreach (DUO) originated in response to the immediate needs in our community brought on by COVID-19. Smith Mills Congregational Church founded the mission and became the hub for DUO. We are a collection of caring volunteers who are determined to love our neighbors and serve them in their time of need. Since March 25, 2020, we have steadily grown from helping a few hundred housebound seniors to currently helping over 1,100 people a week including area families and individuals who are suffering from food insecurity. Since the summer of 2021, DUO partnered with the Dartmouth YMCA Full Plate Project which has enabled the mission to expand and thrive. From the beginning, our mission has been to not only provide food to our recipients, but to feed them HOPE as well…the HOPE that they will make it through this difficult time in their life and that there are people who care about them and their struggles. When they ask how long we can keep this mission going – we reply, “Until you don’t need us anymore.”

Want to know what you can do to help? Please message us a picture of your buoy, name, and contact info if you'd like it to include your buoy in the auction. (They don't have to be professional works of art!)

Thank you all for your support- It takes a village... & a little bit of hope 💚

Many of you have asked what we’ll be doing with the buoys after the holidays. Here’s the plan:

1. We’ll be hosting an online auction for those buoys that were painted by local artists. If you’re a local artist and interested in donating your buoy Here are the details:

Please send Padanaram Village a Message on Facebook with the following:

-Your Name
-Title of Buoy
-Where people can learn about your art
-Best way to contact you (phone, email, etc)
-Picture of your Buoy (so we know which one is yours)

We’ll be holding an auction in mid January. Each buoy that will be a part of the auction will be given a red tag, red bow, and be on display for the holidays. The tag will have artists information as well as how to bid. Proceeds will benefit the Dartmouth Mom's Group @ St. Peter's Episcopal Church which will help fund future community events.

2. We encourage you to recycle your buoy and bring it home for next year. We’ll be posting a date (TBD) when you can take it off the tree!

3. Any buoys that are left on the tree at the end of the season will be reused and distributed the following year.

The buoys that are being submitted are beyond what we ever imagined. They’re incredible. Thank you all for your efforts to get this project off the ground!

It takes a village ❤️

Buoys brighten new holiday tree in Padanaram

Check it out! Our buoy tree project has been featured in Dartmouth Week!

Thank you to all of the community members who have helped get this project rolling. We couldn't do it without you!

If you haven't already, check out the Dartmouth Mom's Group @ St. Peter's Episcopal Church. They were the ones to spearhead this project and are doing some amazing things for our community. ❤

Also a reminder that completed buoys are due this Saturday and can be dropped off on the front lawn of St. Peter's Episcopal Church.

Padanaram businesses and a local mother’s group hope a new holiday tree will buoy seasonal spirits. The tree will be made of buoys painted by area individuals and organizations to create a nautical-themed holiday look organizers say is appropriate...

A HUGE thank you to People's Pressed for a $500 donation to purchase supplies for the Buoy Tree!

It takes a community to pull together events like this and we are so grateful to have People’s Pressed as part of ours.

We now have a bunch of white buoys that will be available first come, first serve on Sunday (11/7) from 11-12 in The Carriage House at St. Peter's Episcopal Church. We are asking for a $5 donation per buoy.

Donations are always welcomed to help offset the cost of additional buoys and supplies for the tree. Please feel free to decorate your own buoy - the more color and uniqueness of each buoy will make the tree extra special!

We’re incredibly excited to announce that we’re starting a new tradition here in Padanaram Village!

We’ve been hard at work planning for the Padanram Holiday Stroll which is scheduled for Saturday December 4th! During the initial planning meeting the idea of a “tree lighting ceremony” was suggested. We took a walk around the village and realized there aren’t any big trees that could do it justice. We then went to plan B- which we’re even more excited for!

Over the coming weeks we are asking that the town come together to help us build something magical. We’ve seen this idea in other towns and are asking for your help to create a Community Buoy Tree located at the Dartmouth Maritime center

Here’s how it will work: We have a small collection of buoys to start with, compiled by community members that have washed ashore. We’re asking for everyone’s help to make this a collaborative effort!
Our hope is that community members of all ages, families, organizations, shops, districts, and businesses will pick up and paint a buoy and be represented on the tree.

Details:
Please drop off finished or unfinished buoys at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church located at 351 Elm Street. The tree will be constructed there then transported to the maritime center.

We need a lot of buoys!

And, if you already have a buoy to paint- perfect! If you have more buoys to contribute for others to decorate, that is awesome as well. Please drop off finished or unfinished buoys at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church located at 351 Elm Street. The tree will be constructed there then transported to the maritime center.

If you’ll be painting the buoys yourself we suggest water-based (permanent when dry) acrylic paint, latex, and oil-based paints you may have sitting around. A good permanent sharpie can add any details you like. Don’t forget to sign it somewhere!

We have plans drawn up to construct the frame itself. If you would like to help with the construction of the frame please reach out! We will start adding completed buoys to the tree as soon as possible. The holiday stroll is exactly one month away which leave us plenty of time to get painting. We will be holding a tree lighting ceremony during the Stroll on December 4th.

Interested in volunteering on this project or have questions? Please message the Padanaram Village page.

Interested in donating some of the supplies? We’ll be Looking for:

• buoys
• rope
• paint/ brushes
• strings of colored holiday lights
• zip-ties
• wood pallet for base structure
• chicken wire

This is hopefully the start of a new annual tradition here in Padanaram Village. They say “it takes a village”, which is something we’re so very fortunate to have. We only have one month so lets come together as a community to do something really special.

Thank you all!

Love,
The Dartmouth Mom's Group @ St. Peter's Episcopal Church
& the Padanaram Village Business Association

Hi Padanaram merchants! Delighted to see that you are all opening up after our great pause! My family and I will be returning on Saturday for our 12th annual summer vacation. We will be there from Saturday June 27th to Sept 1st. I have a hard working, reliable 16 year old daughter with great retail experience in Sag Harbor NY looking for a summer job. She comes with fantastic references. Part time / full time hours / on call would be great, but whatever you need to get through the summer season. Please message me and we can continue the conversation. Thank you!
