I see the concept of bipartisanship taking hold in communities & local elections. And I loved it. I ran in a bipartisan campaign because I believe in the character of my running mate more than political affiliation. Bipartisanship is not about conceding to make your message more comfortable and easy to digest. It's about mutual respect and the idea that we will never be able to agree 100%, nor are we in a position to save the world. But we want 99% of the same things- to protect our neighbors, empower our communities, leave a better world for our children than the one we inherited.

We will never achieve our potential by living I an echo chamber, voting along party lines and closing ourselves off. We need representatives who value and represent every walk of life.

To my LGBTQ friends - Do not sell eldery Christians short. One of the most shocking revelations to come out of this campaign was a conversation i had with an elderly Christian woman:

"My son is gay and I love him. He has the kindest heart of any man I've ever met, and him & his partner treat me like a queen. I disowned a friend of mine. We used to play cards. She tried to tell me that my son had the devil in his heart. I looked at her and I told her 'god made each and every one of us in his image! How DARE you sit here and accuse my son of having the devil in him! He was made in God's image just as much as you, and he is just as perfect as every creation of the Lord almighty. If there is anyone with the devil in their heart, it's someone who would denounce God's love!'."

One of the wildest things to come out of running in a local election was the candid views that friends on both sides of the aisle have shared with me in the past few months.

I think now, more than ever, you all need to realize how much you all have in common. I have no need to show any decorum anymore. I can say whatever I want on this platform until the day I get banned. And I want to take the opportunity to take the momentum I've already built to bring my liberal and conservative friends together. You all are fired up and have so much more in common than you will ever know.

So please, take this page and use it to reach out to your neighbors. Get a Dialogue going. Take the message you hear here and bring it out into the community!

It's been a couple of days since the election, so I wanted to take a moment to give a statement. Im going to be doing this in three parts:

To the Community:

Thank you again for each and every one of you who made your voice and exercised your right to vote. With that said, your job isn't over.

First, we had roughly 250 voters turn out in a village with approximately 2,500 registered voters. This election was determined by 10% of eligible voters. I implore everyone(regardless of location or affiliation) to get registered, get informed, and be heard!

Second, hold our public servants accountable! On every level, we need to remember that elected officials are employees of the people. The government exists to work in the best interests of the people it serves, and it is our job to
make sure that happens. Ask questions, stay informed, exercise your rights! The work you do locally, snowballs to a national level. None of us can save the world, but we can save our communities, influence our states, and bring about the change we want to see nationally.

To my supporters:

First, I want to thank Nick Bodkin for giving me the opportunity to be his running mate. On a professional level, Nick shared the knowledge & experience he's accrued over the last 17 to make sure I was educated and ready to hit the ground running. I have met very few people who care about this community as much as he does. I cannot say enough about his family as well. They have been there for my family when we've needed them the most, and I am grateful to call them part of our family.

Second, I want to thank my wife, Allie, for her support and for having my back through this entire election. I've lost track of the number of times Nick & I dragged her into the group chat for her insight and opinions. I also want to thank my parents and sister for believing in what I was doing and supporting me every step of the way.

Third, I want to thank all the friends who supported me. Whether it was kind words, joining this page, or coming to our home for game nights and giving their insight as our impromptu campaign team. I appreciate each and every one of you!

Lastly, I want to thank the community. I walked away from this election with 91 votes. That may not sound like much, but we ran a grassroots campaign on an independent ticket. We had not party affiliation to prop us up. And still, 91 of my neighbors cast a vote for my name on a ballot. For anyone who has never run for office before, that is a VERY humbling feel regardless of the number of votes you get, and I am incredibly grateful for each and every one of you who put your faith in me.

Congratulations to Joe Orlow, Claude Middleton, & Keith Comstock. I believe you all have the best in mind for our village, and I look forward to seeing the progress that the new Mayor & board are able to make to our community! I wish you all the best, gentlemen!

It's currently the end of the night on St. Patrick's Day. My 17 year old is making Ramen, and hanging out in the kitchen while my wife & I are listening to music. Our girls are already up in bed. Earlier tonight we had family friends over. Tomorrow is the election in the village of South Glens Falls. Some of us will be holding new positions. Some of us will not.

Regardless of what happens, tomorrow we will all be lucky to wake up tomorrow. We will walk out our doors and drop into whatever position it is in life that makes this village, or the world at large, function. We'll stop for coffee, we'll work our jobs, we'll pick up groceries, make dinner. We'll go through all the tiny, seemingly insignificant moments that make this village a community.

We are all part of this community. Everyone one of you has a voice. Everyone of you deserves to be heard. Everyone of you has the chance to make this community the home you want to live in. I genuinely do not care who's name you cast on that ballot, I just ask that you make your voice heard. We are in no place, locally, nationally, or globally, to be keeping our mouths shut and hoping things work out. Everyone one of us has an obligation to do our part and make our voice heard.

Tomorrow, March 18th, make your voice heard. Go out, cast your vote. Let the future mayor & the future board know that your voice will be heard. Elected officials work for their people. Now more than ever, make them work for you and cast your vote.
