We are now Live!!!!!! Create your free profile today. All information that you provide is safe and secure!!!

Fire District No. 1 is always looking for ways to improve how we prepare for and respond to emergencies. Community Connect from First Due is an important tool that helps us do just that.

Community Connect allows residents and businesses to voluntarily provide critical information about their properties directly to the Fire District. Information such as:

β€’ Household members who may need additional assistance during an emergency
β€’ Pets and animals on the property 🐢🐱
β€’ Property access information
β€’ Important medical or emergency considerations
β€’ Contact information for responsible parties
β€’ Other details that could help firefighters better understand a property before or during an emergency

Why does this matter?

When firefighters respond to an emergency, every second counts. Having information about a property ahead of time can help our crews make better-informed decisions, prioritize resources, and improve the safety of both residents and firefighters.

Community Connect is voluntary, and residents choose what information they want to share. It gives our Fire District an opportunity to know more about the community we serveβ€”before an emergency happens.

We encourage residents and businesses in Fire District No. 1 to take a few minutes to learn more about Community Connect and consider providing information that could help us help you when it matters most.

πŸš’ Your information today could make a difference during tomorrow's emergency.

Community Connect β€” helping Fire District No. 1 be better prepared to protect our community.

Please ensure that your house number is adequately displayed so that it is visible from the street so that we can find you in an emergency. It is the Law!!!

Recently a letter was sent out from the police department regarding house number compliance. The town has their own regulations regarding size and placement outside of the State Fire Code and Fire Law.

Fire District No.1 does not enforce the town by laws. If you have questions about compliance with the letter please contact either the Police Department, Building Commissioner or Health Department.

The Fire Law that we enforce reads as follows:

M.G.L. 148 Section 59:

Every building in the commonwealth, including, but not limited to, dwellings, apartment buildings, condominiums, and business establishments shall have affixed thereto a number representing the address of such building. Said number shall be of a nature and size and shall be situated on the building so that, to the extent practicable, it is visible from the nearest street or road providing vehicular access to such building.

The state 911 department shall cause such number and the address of such building to be entered into the electronic data base for use in enhanced 911 service as defined in section eighteen A of chapter six A.

Today at 14:29hrs Fire District 1 struck a box alarm for 502A Granby Rd for the report of smoke in the building. First arriving units were met with a smoke condition within the building, no active fire. A burst pipe within the unit assisted in the extinguishment of fire. Smoke and heat damage was noted throughout building. Two cats were rescued by FF Downs and FF Fournier. An additional cat was located later on. All three cats were reunited with their family and appear to be in good health.

The fire is currently under investigation by SHFD1 and MSP Troopers assigned to the Fire Marshals Office.

All apparatus were clear as of 15:58hrs.

Involved Units: 63E1, 63T3, 63C2, 64E4
