CYCLOSPORA UPDATE! As of midâJuly 2026, there are more than 1,645 confirmed domestic cases of cyclosporiasis the CDC is investigating over 5,100 additional cases across 34 states. While this is a substantial increase compared to the 249 cases last year, Cyclospora is not a new parasite. Infections are typically most common in the Summer months with warmer temperatures.
Massachusetts has seen about 20 cases of Cyclospora this season. The cause of the Cyclospora outbreak this season is still unknown, but scientists are working hard to find a clear answer.
