The Great Basin Institute for Wildfire Community Outreach Educators has 6 positions total; 3 at the Taylor Creek Visitor Center and 3 at the Galena Creek Visitor Center in Reno. They are AmeriCorps roles, and the dates of service are somewhat flexible to accommodate student schedules; however, summer will be quite busy. Wildfire educators will work in collaboration with the Forest Service to achieve the project mission. The Great Basin Institute advances environmental research, education, and service throughout the west. The institute promotes applied research and ecological literacy through community engagement and agency partnerships to support national parks, forests, open spaces and public lands.
