The Great Basin Institute for Wildfire Community Outreach Educators has 6 positions total; 3 at the Taylor Creek Visitor Center and 3 at the Galena Creek Visitor Center in Reno. They are AmeriCorps roles, and the dates of service are somewhat flexible to accommodate student schedules; however, summer will be quite busy. Wildfire educators will work in collaboration with the Forest Service to achieve the project mission. The Great Basin Institute advances environmental research, education, and service throughout the west. The institute promotes applied research and ecological literacy through community engagement and agency partnerships to support national parks, forests, open spaces and public lands.

Lake Tahoe Basin Fire Academy graduates….

I am working on a project involving the Caldor Fire. If you were assigned to the fire this last summer, I’d love to hear from you via Messenger. I’m also looking for photos that include you during the fire (including suppression, mop-up and BAER efforts).

Thank you!
Leona Allen
