South Lake Tahoe Fire Fighters Association Welcome to the South Lake Tahoe Fire Rescue's local Firefighter page, we exist to serve the residents and visitors to SLT. Thanks for following us.

The South Lake Tahoe Fire Department services 16 sq. miles of urban /wildland interface housing with a population of roughly 24,500 people. We are neighbored by our close agency Lake Valley Fire Protection District and on the other side Tahoe Douglas Fire Protection District. As a department we strive to provide the utmost excellence in care for our community. Whether it is fire suppression, vehicle accidents, rescue situations, any kind of medical call, or responding to residences for concerned citizens that need help. As well as this we also provide many community outreach and education programs. Our area promotes some of the most spectacular views of a high alpine lake in the country as well as endless outdoor activities. We are an all risk department which means we aim to tackle any obstacle placed in front of us. Not only are we next to a large body of water, but we also have a local airport, ski resorts, highway’s, and target hazard hotels located within the city limits just to name a few. Our highly trained personnel work around the clock to keep our community safe and we are proud to do it.

SLTFR would like to remind everyone to stay safe during their travels this weekend.

SLTFR would like to remind everyone to stay safe during their travels this weekend.

Tonight through early Saturday afternoon will feature minimal snow showers and is the best time to complete travel over the Sierra; however, chain requirements remain possible so check road conditions.

Snow develops in the Sierra late Saturday afternoon and continues into Monday so expect a very long commute over the Sierra at the end of the holiday weekend with major delays expected. Finish travel by early Saturday afternoon. This storm will also produce a mix of snow, ice, and rain for Sierra valleys and out across western Nevada as snow transitions to rain below 6,500-7,500 feet.

A great gathering tonight with the on duty crews and our SLTFD retirees. These are the retired firefighters that paved the way for our agency to be what it is today. Captain Leslie Asbury, our behavioral health officer, set up this meeting to check in with our retirees and discuss behavioral health, give everyone some tips on staying healthy mentally, and our retirees gave our current firefighters tips on things only they would know about, such as saving for retirement and swapping stories from the firehouse. A wonderful evening with family. #ourhistory #weexistforyou
