Happy Thanksgiving from K9 Ricci and K9 Rocky!
Quatro is retiring, he and I were honored at our department awards ceremony where I signed the paperwork to take him home and let him be a couch potato.
Quatro and I have served together for 6 &1/2 years. K9 is the coolest job you can do in cop work, and quite frankly all of the world. Working with Quatro has been an amazing experience, I have learned so much from him and have grown as a person and a cop.
I have been truly blessed with him as a partner from his kind nature to his intuition of knowing when it is game time. Quatro was the perfect dog to be a part of my personal and work families.
When it isn’t game time, Quatro is a social butterfly who gets his feelings hurt if you don’t pet him. Don’t ignore him while you are typing your report in the station as he will force you to pet him by flipping your hand off the keyboard with the top of snout. He enjoyed checking in on dispatch for his morning pets and hand holding.
I want to tank my family for their support while we worked long days and had to be available for call outs in the middle of the night.
I want to thank my trainers, Jim Barnes and Gregg Tawney for their continuous support and guidance for a successful career. My k9 partners Ryan Wagoner, Jason Cheney, and Scott Crivelli for making dog work fun and taking our unit in a great direction.
There are many others to say thanks too, but too many to list without feeling like I just won an Emmy.
Quatro is retiring because I am moving to a new position at the department, he is retiring
on our own terms, free from injury or illness that would force a dog to retire, and he will be able to enjoy retirement. On that note... not too sure he will enjoy as much as we would enjoy retirement . He will miss riding in the car, and going everywhere with me.
I’m out of words through mixed emotions on the next chapter of our life and career.
Here is to happy tails for Quatro
-Officer Matt Morrison and Quatro
SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - K9 officer Quatro retired from the South Lake Tahoe Police Department (SLTPD) Thursday after serving on the force for 6.5 years. During the department's annual awards ceremony, Quatro's service was recognized.
Our Thoughts and Prayers to the injured officers. One of the Officers was a K9 handler that our teams train with often. Wishing you a speedy recovery.
Two Elk Grove officers and a suspect were hurt in an overnight shooting, the Elk Grove Police Department said Sunday.
It is with a heavy that we share with you all the passing of retired K9 ARGO this morning. K9 ARGO faithfully served the SLTPD and the SLT community for 4 years. ARGO began his career at SLTPD with Ofc. Mark Hounsell in 2010. Ofc. Ryan Wagoner became ARGO's handler in 2012. Ofc. Wagoner and K9 ARGO both retired in September of 2014. K9 ARGO was responsible for the safe apprehension of several criminal suspects, location and seizure of large quantities of narcotics and US Currency. ARGO has spent the last 4 years enjoying retirement with Ryan and his family. ARGO was 12 years old at the time of his passing. Rest in Peace K9 ARGO, we got it from here.
Please keep the Wagoner family in your thoughts and prayers.
Happy 8th birthday to Quatro!

Merry Christmas from SLTPCA
SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - It was a normal day of skiing in South Lake Tahoe on Friday, December 7, 2018 for a couple from Oakland, California. They had parked their car on the top floor of the five-story parking garage at Heavenly Village, left their two dogs Titan and Comet inside and hit the slop...

With an officer shortage in South Lake Tahoe, the police department is seeking applications for the position of "Police Officer Untrained/Trainee." The City of South Lake Tahoe is looking for officers to fill a void created with the departure of four trained officers to other jurisdictions.
What does a 3 legged, retired Police K9 do on a Friday night??? Sits in her favorite chair, in front of the fireplace and watches Lone Survivor of course! 🚔🐾🇺🇸
Seasons are changing... Quatro is looking forward to winter.
I have changed the focal point of the photo for those who pointed it out. I didn’t realize it when it was first posted.
A few “before” and “after” pictures of K9 Tara. 4 legs or 3...she still preforms. This girl is a true Warrior.

In honor of our fallen brothers and sisters on 9/11, members of the SLT PD SWAT team joined other local fire and police departments in a 110 story stair climb. K9 Ricci paid his respects by joining the team for the final ascent. Never Forget.
So we’ve been looking at ALL options for K9 Tara’s replacement....so far K9 JoJo is our front runner. 😂🚔🐾🇺🇸
The dispatch supervisor got K9 Tara all set up with a work station....as you can see, she’s working REALLY hard. 🚔🐾🇺🇸
Round 1 of Chemo in the books and Tara seems to be feeling just fine! Here’s a little clip of Tara saying THANK YOU for all the love, prayers and support! 🚔🐾🇺🇸
RIP Kash. Officer Cavalli and K9 Kash were in Officer Morrison and K9 Quatro‘ handler school. It’s a bummer to see him go before he was ready.
They work in Trinity county and have been working the Carr fire.
You are in our prayers fellas.
We are sorry to inform you of the passing of another Law Enforcement canine, partner and family member. K9 Kash from Trinity County SO passed away today from an unexpected medical emergency. K9 Kash and handler Scott Cavalli have been busy working on the Carr fire. K9 Kash had his last bust this week and found over 1lb of methamphetamine. The bond the handlers and their families have with these amazing canines are very special. Thank you for your service Kash, you will always be remembered.

Retired K9 Tara is well on her way to recovery. We would like to thank everyone for all the love and support she has received. Tara visited with the folks at El Dorado County Probation today to say thank you and get a little tug time in. 🚔🐾🇺🇸
Tara decided to come work in dispatch as a retired annuitant... she’s killing it!! 😂
Tara received this cover from Cover The Blue yesterday. So amazing and grateful for the love and support this little beast has received.
Cover the Blue, YOU all are the HEROS! Thank you!
Far well Karo, your legacy will not be forgotten. 🚔🐾🇺🇸
Retired K9 Karo’s last call. Don’t listen without tissue close by. Rest easy Warrior Hero....your watch is complete. Love and Respect
Our hearts go out to our SCSO family. Karo was a true warrior.
Today we had to say goodbye for now to Retired Sutter County Sheriff K9 KARO. He started with our department in 2007. Karo was a sweet dog that was known for his wicked leg bites. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his handler and family during this difficult time. The bond between a handler and k9 is hard to describe but those fortunate to experience it know how great it is, which makes it that much harder to say goodbye. Good by for now Karo, R.I.P. 💙🐾😥🚔
K9 Ricci has come to spend a few days with retired K9 Tara. They were so excited to see each other! Just what Tara needs to help her heal...FRIENDS! 🚔🐾🇺🇸
Tara is strictly following the doctors orders to rest!! 🚔🐾🇺🇸

❤️TARA IS HOME!!!!💙
Surgery went as perfect as it possibly could thanks to Dr. Ross and the Carson Valley Vet Team.
Tara will be home resting for the next 2 weeks. After that she will undergo 4 rounds of IV Chemotherapy, after which we are praying she gets to enjoy the rest of her retirement cancer free.
We can’t thank everyone enough for the overwhelming amount of love, prayers and support! ❤️💙
We will continue to update Tara’s progress! 🚔🐾🇺🇸
*****UPDATE ON TARA'S BATTLE WITH CANCER*******
Tara had surgery on 7/18/18 and all went well. On 7/19/18 she was up, moving around, and ate breakfast. Sergeant Cheney will be taking her home mid afternoon for her to rest and recover from home.
We have had multiple people reach out asking how they can support Tara's surgery and recovery. We have created a donation link on our web page sltpca.com, to provide donation through the website. Our mailing address will be listed below.
Now that Tara had retired, Sergeant Cheney is on the hook for all of the medical bills. SLTPCA supplements the cost of medical bills through the sales of our K9 Hero's, and donations for the specific cause. We have had an outpouring of support of people asking how they can donate, and the love and generosity is amazing.

Help Sergeant Cheney and SLTPCA cover the costs for K9 Tara's battle with cancer.
Retired K9 Tara went into the vet yesterday for what we thought was a “routine” injury to her right rear leg. Turns out she has a very aggressive bone cancer just a little over 2 months after retiring.
Tara will be having her right rear leg amputated followed by chemo therapy. So we would appreciate all the thoughts and prays we can get today.
Thank god for Dr. Ross and the Carson Valley Veterinary team for squeezing her in yesterday.
Last night, K9 Tara was treated to the best dinner she’s ever had. Tina Shannon at the Flight Deck Sports Bar and Grill made Tara a special pre-op dinner: Chicken Breast’s, Hamburger and of course a side of fries.
Thank you to our SLT community for all the support these K9 Officers receive.
We will keep you posted...🚔🐾🇺🇸
When you’re retired but you have to remind the youngster you are STILL the BOSS! 🚔🐾🇺🇸
