Friends, If you need a little laughter this weekend - especially if you’ve sent your kiddos off to college this week - go see Coyote vs. Acme. It was fantastic!! Complete with a Congressional Hearing & wait for it - a line about 🚦 cameras! Best of all, the producers maintained the integrity of those 70’s cartoon characters many of us grew up with on Saturday mornings.

Good evening, everyone,

I’d like to introduce you to Gwen Samuel from my hometown who just had her first MAJOR victory in her senate campaign against Matt Lesser.

After supporting Senator Lesser the last several years, CT’s Independent party has endorsed Gwen For CT for the 2026 senate seat & issued the following statement in today’s Hartford Courant:

“[w]e would like solutions to problems that work for everybody — not just partisan talking points. We want to be the voice in the middle that tries to represent the average person, rather than the two extremes. So that's our real mission."

Amen Independent party! Amen.

“We would very much like to represent the unaffiliated and disaffected,” said former Republican Stewart “Chip” Beckett, a longtime Glastonbury resident.

Introducing a New Community Conversation

🏘️ For many years, I’ve been fortunate to serve our community in a variety of roles. One lesson has remained constant: many of our strongest opinions about local issues begin long before we fully understand how local government actually works - its powers & its limitations.

🗒️ Whether the topic is education, public safety, roads, taxes, economic development, or parks, every municipal decision involves trade-offs, public input, legal requirements, and sometimes difficult choices.

🔎That’s why I’m excited to introduce Civic Matters.  I’ve always believed that informed communities make better decisions. This platform isn’t about telling people what to think, it’s about helping all of us better understand how local government works, ask thoughtful questions, and have more informed conversations about the issues that affect our communities every day.

🚦 I look forward to sharing the first issue with you soon: Automated Traffic Enforcement Cameras.

💻 We’ll explore how municipalities evaluate automated traffic enforcement, the process required under Connecticut law, and the questions residents may wish to consider as communities discuss this topic.
