🍎 As kids head back to school, keep packed lunches safe with these food safety essentials:

✅ Use an insulated lunch bag to keep food out of the temperature danger zone (between 40 and 140 degrees F)
✅ Include two cold sources for keeping cold foods cold, such as two frozen ice packs or one frozen ice pack and a frozen juice box or bottle of water. Place the cold sources on the top and bottom of food to keep it cold.
✅ Consider packing non-perishable snacks that don’t require a cold source such as whole fruits and vegetables, crackers, chips or pretzels, and granola bars.

🍎To ease back-to-school anxiety:
🍎Start adjusting sleep and morning routines a week or two early.
🍎Visit the school, classroom, or route beforehand if possible.
🍎Talk through worries calmly and focus on what they can expect.
🍎Prepare clothes, supplies, and lunch the night before.
🍎Keep the first morning simple and unrushed.
🍎Practice a short calming technique, such as slow breathing or naming five things they can see.
🍎Stay positive without dismissing their feelings: “It’s okay to feel nervous. We’ll handle it step by step.”
🍎Keep goodbyes brief, warm, and confident.
🍎Contact the teacher or school counsellor if anxiety persists, affects sleep, or prevents attendance.

Women's Equality Day is celebrated today, Wednesday, August 26, 2026, to mark when women in the United States won the constitutional right to vote.

History of the Day
The 19th Amendment: Secretary of State Bainbridge Colby certified the 19th Amendment on August 26, 1920. This law stopped the government from denying votes based on s*x.

Official Recognition: Congresswoman Bella Abzug pushed for the observance in 1971. Congress passed a resolution to make it official in 1973.

Honor the Past: We remember the hard work of early suffragists who fought for equality.
