Candidates in New York who are not quite far enough left are struggling against insurgent challengers. For them the lesson for the Democrats of past defeats is not to moderate, but to charge the barricades https://econ.st/4guRXJo

Couldn’t have said it better myself. Lamont will only go as far as his rich friends will tolerate! He will never support material change for the working class

In Opinion | At the end of the day, Lamont’s record is signing the bills that the top 1% can tolerate, while vetoing the one that gives workers real power at the bargaining table.

We must replace every incumbent democrat who does not represent the working class’s future!

CT DSA is proud to announce our endorsement of Justin Farmer for State Representative in the 92nd House District, in the Democratic Primary on August 11th!

We’re proud to endorse Justin, a founding member of CT DSA and fighter for the multiracial working class who has struggled alongside us to bring change both in the streets and through his extensive history in elected office.

Justin grew up in Newhall in southern Hamden, on land contaminated by decades of industrial pollution. He has since built a career in brownfield remediation, fighting to make polluters clean up their mess, and organizing the Six Lakes Park Coalition to turn a former powder farm into a public park. When he knocked on his first campaign doors in 2017, he was wearing noise-canceling headphones to manage his Tourette’s Syndrome.

As a Hamden Legislative Councilor, Justin led the fight to abolish prison gerrymandering in Connecticut and was a driving force behind the state’s Right to Counsel law, guaranteeing legal representation to tenants facing eviction. He has stood with immigrant communities, marched with Black Lives Matter New Haven, and built a block of socialist legislators and organizers who share his vision that a better world is possible.

The 92nd District — covering Westville, Edgewood, Amity, Dwight, West River, and the Hill — has had the same representative for 42 years. Justin Farmer is running to change that.
Let’s send Justin Farmer, a proud Democratic Socialist, to the Connecticut State House! 🌹

Exactly why bronin is not to be trusted. He talks the talk but does not walk the walk!

Both have positioned themselves against big money in politics.

Ex-Hartford Mayor Luke Bronin has pledged not to accept money from corporate political action committees and proposed a constitutional amendment to reduce corporate spending in elections.

U.S. Rep. John Larson boasts that he cosponsored federal legislation to reform campaign finance laws, and he has recently slammed Bronin for receiving financial support from billionaires.

And yet both Democrats have played the big-money fundraising game in one way or another, Federal Election Commission filings show: https://www.newstimes.com/politics/article/ct-bronin-larson-corporate-campaign-contributions-22282291.php

The rally also comes a month after lawmakers passed a bill that was signed into law by Gov. Ned Lamont that limits ICE actions in Connecticut.

The failure of Rep. Jill Barry, D-Glastonbury, to win the endorsement of local Democrats for a fifth term came six months after the left-leaning Working Families Party quietly identified the moderate lawmaker as vulnerable.

Southington Democrats on the Town Council recently voted against hiring 3 additional fire fighters. Thats despite the FF union saying for years that our staffing it and enough. Now a massive fire broke out, and Southington Dems are scrambling to save face. Shame on the SDTC for not taking public safety seriously!!

Today’s fire at Chuck & Eddie’s is exactly why staffing matters.

The first-arriving apparatus (Truck 1) was staffed at our minimum staffing level- officer and a driver.

Station 3 — the closest fire station to this incident — was unstaffed—closed for nights and weekends.

Mutual aid departments were needed to assist with the fire and provide coverage for the rest of town for HOURS- on their taxpayers dime.

While firefighters were committed to a major fire involving fuel, hazardous materials, and foam operations, mutual aid departments handled seven additional critical incidents.

Let that sink in.

One major fire.
Seven additional emergencies.
An unstaffed fire station.
Minimum staffing on the first-arriving apparatus.

This, just weeks after the Town Council voted against adding the firefighters they had previously promised, further reduced the Fire Department budget, delayed filling the Assistant Chief position, and eliminated the Chief’s Secretary position—a critical administrative role that supports the daily operation of the department (a position dating back to the 1980’s).

Our firefighters will continue to answer every call, every day, regardless of the circumstances. But today’s incident demonstrates the reality of operating a growing emergency service with insufficient staffing and funding.

This isn’t politics.

It’s public safety.
