UPDATE Sencion‑Gonzalez, will be sentenced tomorrow

The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Luis Sencion‑Gonzalez, a Nevada Corrections Officer, was arrested on March 3, 2025 by detectives from the Human Exploitation and Recovery Operations and the N.N.R.I.C.

Investigators say Sencion‑Gonzalez initiated contact with someone he believed was a 15‑year‑old child. The “child” was actually an undercover detective. He made multiple incriminating statements before being taken into custody.

He was charged with:
•Attempted Statutory Sexual Seduction by Person Over 21 – Felony
• Attempted Kidnapping of a Minor – Felony
• Attempted Child Abuse or Neglect – Felony
•Luring a Child with Use of Computer Technology -Felony
• Attempt to Use Minor for Sexual Portrayal/Performance – Felony

Luis Sencion‑Gonzalez later plead guilty to Luring a Child.

Every outlet covered the arrest but none mentioned he was a Nevada Corrections Officer.

Fake Stream Media must have had an honest oversight when every single newsroom “forgot” that detail.

Accountability doesn’t stop at the badge. We will keep documenting what others conveniently leave out.

Nye County Sheriff Joe McGill has now publicly admitted he wrote the comment “boy I sure wish you had been there to treat her” on a post about Stevie Miller’s death in the Nye County jail. He says he acted out of “frustration.”

But frustration is not an excuse for cruelty especially from the top law enforcement official in the county where Stevie died.

This moment isn’t about an apology video. It’s about what his comment revealed, a culture inside the Nye County Sheriff’s Office where mockery replaces medical care, where families seeking answers are met with sarcasm, and where people in crisis are dismissed instead of helped.

Stevie Miller deserved medical attention. Sara W. deserved medical attention. Every person in Nye County custody deserves medical attention, after all its CARE & custody.

An apology doesn’t fix a system with no oversight, no accountability, and a documented pattern of medical neglect.

The Miller family is still grieving.
The community is still demanding answers. And Nevada still has no independent oversight of its county jails.

Justice for Stevie.
Justice for Sara.
Oversight now.

On August 29, 2015, Niko Smith was asphyxiated to death by deputies inside the Washoe County Jail under the direction of Corey Solferino, who is now the chief of Reno PD. Niko’s death was ruled a homicide, and it became the first in a deadly pattern that continued.

Niko’s case should have triggered immediate scrutiny, accountability, and reform. But that did not occur.

Washoe County Jail saw three men killed by asphyxiation during restraint that we know about, Nico Smith 2015, Thomas Purdy 2015
& Justin Thompson 2016.

All three deaths were ruled homicides. All three involved deputies using restraint techniques that restricted breathing. All three families demanded answers.

And none of these homicide cases were ever received by Washoe County DA Chris Hicks’s Office for review.

The Washoe County District Attorney is the official responsible for determining whether deputies should face criminal charges in in custody deaths. Yet Chris Hicks never reviewed the three asphyxiation homicide cases from the Sheriff’s Office.

No criminal review. No charging decision. No public explanation
NO ACCOUNTABILITY!

Three homicides. Zero DA review.

Families were left with unanswered questions, and the public was left without transparency.

Niko’s death wasn’t an isolated tragedy it was the beginning of a pattern Washoe County refused to confront. When a DA refuses to review homicide cases, because the perpetrators are cops the shows the system is designed to protect deputies, not the public.

This anniversary is a reminder that Nico’s life mattered. His death was preventable. His case deserved review. And Washoe County still hasn’t answered for any of it

Eleven years later, we honor Niko Smith. We remember his humanity, his family, and the truth of what happened to him. And we continue to demand accountability for every life taken inside that jail.

Our Town Reno is reporting the Washoe County Medical Examiners office has confirmed 22 year old Anthony Porter of Sparks was shot by multiple unnamed RPD officers 8/23/2026 died on scene. The Nevada Supreme Court recently ruled that officers do not have a protected privacy interest that allows them to hide their names or badge numbers, including in misconduct cases and civilian review board notices.

Stevie Miller should be alive.
And what happened to Stevie is not unique to Nye County it is part of a documented, statewide crisis created by Nevada’s refusal to establish independent oversight for its county jails. Keely Darmody died from withdrawals at the Washoe County jail 8/23/2016. When there is no oversight, neglect becomes routine. Abuse becomes normalized. And people like Stevie & Keely die.

According to residents Nye County has a long history of ignoring medical emergencies, dismissing people in crisis, and refusing to follow basic humane standards.

And now, in the aftermath of Stevie’s death, the Nye County Sheriff’s Office Facebook profile responded to community concern with a vile, callous remark:

“Boy I sure wish you had been there to treat her.”

The story below is one of the most disturbing examples of refusing to follow basic humane standards.
and it happened years before Stevie Miller ever entered that jail.

Jason Killinger, the Nevada truck driver wrongfully arrested after the Peppermill’s facial recognition system misidentified him for a trespassed individual, is now asking a federal judge to order the City of Reno to hand over unreacted records for 168 people who were flagged by the same system as part of ongoing legal proceedings.

After his legal team requested these records Reno produced more than 1,000 pages but redacted names and identifying information.

“Could legitimately be you have a doppelgänger running around... But they are strikingly similar,” the bodycam from September 17 2023 indicates, with Reno Police officer Richard Jager rambling on in Killinger’s case of mistaken identity.

Killinger settled with the Peppermill before suing Jager and adding the City of Reno alleging it failed to train officers in using the AI technology.

“It’s not me, f …,” Jason Killinger says, who is ignored. He has his hands handcuffed behind him after being arrested at the Peppermill casino where facial recognition software indicated he was a 100% match for a man identified as Michael Ellis who had been trespassed from the property for sleeping inside.

Killinger is four inches taller than Ellis with blue eyes rather than hazel.

“Weird enough their fancy AI technology that reads faces …” Jager keeps going in the bodycam video.

“Can’t figure it out?” Killinger tries to interject.

“No it says it’s a 100% match. But at this point our hands are tied because …” Jager says.

“Wow,” Killinger says in disbelief.

A class action lawsuit is being considered if more victims such as Killinger can be identified.
