Meet our STEM summer camps teacher!!

Raeann Mettler, PhD is a local researcher and former STEM camp operator of Bricks Bots & Beakers. She has diverse background knowledge in birds, plants, genetics, environmental science & health science and has taught Biology courses for several universities.

When not doing science, Raeann is a busy mom to a 7 yr old son and 2 spunky dogs. She is also running for Spearfish School Board in the June 2nd election.

Raeann is leading our Summer STEM Camps, with help of her lab assistant Rosee.

Meet our summer Camp music teacher!!! 🎶

Tara is wrapping up her 13th year in music education and her 9th year teaching K–2 music in the Spearfish School District. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Music Education from Black Hills State University and later completed her Master of Music Education at Temple University, where part of her graduate work focused on early childhood music.

Over the years, she’s continued to grow her teaching practice through training in both Orff-Schulwerk and Early Childhood Music Learning Theory, and has also presented sessions for the South Dakota Music Education Association.

At the heart of it all, Tara simply loves helping kids discover the joy of making music — whether that looks like singing, moving, playing instruments, or trying something new for the very first time.

Outside of teaching, she plays percussion with the Northern Hills Community Band, serves on their board, and stays busy with her husband Christopher and their two daughters, Isla and Elsie.

She believes music is for everyone and loves creating spaces where kids can learn, grow, and have fun through music
