🚨GRANT AWARD🚨
Spottsville Fire Department has been awarded ANOTHER grant!! We have been conditionally awarded the 2026 Volunteer Fire Assistance Grant (VFA) Grant through the Kentucky Division of Forestry. This program is designed to establish and enhance fire protection in communities. Through this program, the Division of Forestry provides training, grant funds and technical advice to rural fire departments.

A new law goes into effect today 7/15/2026 to help protect first responders:
Senate Bill 104 – Creates a 25-foot buffer zone around first responders engaged in official duties and clarifies rules to minimize disruptions during emergency responses.

Applies to police officers, firefighters, EMS personnel and other personnel.

Impeding a first responder after violating a verbal warning is a misdemeanor charge for the first three offenses and a Class D felony on each subsequent offense.

Earlier this year the Spottsville Fire Department went through another audit with ISO (Insurance Services Office) to attempt to lower our Public Protection Classification (PPC). By lowering the PPC rating, community residents have the chance to lower their homeowner’s insurance premiums (significantly in some cases). Our NEW PPC RATING HAS NOW WENT FROM A 5 TO A 4!!!! Proud doesn’t say it loud enough. Thank you for always supporting your volunteer fire department! We work hard to help residents in our community in every way possible!

Great news, Spottsville!
Our fire department has officially been awarded the 2026 Kentucky Firewise Community Grant, part of the NFPA’s Wildfire and Firewise USA Programs and the Kentucky Division of Forestry. This is a major win for community wildfire safety.

This grant will allow us to bring in new technology, including Microsoft Surface Pro tablets and an interactive smart board, giving our volunteers the tools they need to complete digital wildfire‑risk assessments, improve GIS mapping, and strengthen our Community Wildfire Protection Plan.

As part of this project, we’ll be completing 150 Survey123 home wildfire‑risk assessments across the district. These assessments help residents understand their home’s wildfire vulnerabilities and give us the data needed to reduce hazards across Spottsville.

This funding directly supports Firewise USA™ goals: reducing wildfire risk, improving defensible space, and helping our community stay safer and more prepared.

We’re excited for what this means for our district — and grateful for the continued support that makes progress like this possible.

NEW ADDITION! Spottsville Fire Department has officially added a UTV and trailer to our fleet. This new setup boosts our ability to fight brush fires, reach patients off‑road, and even support major incidents across the county. Your support helps us protect Spottsville — and we’re just getting started. Thank you to everyone standing with us and supporting us through it all.
