Spring City Borough Emergency Management was happy to assist our neighboring communities during last evening’s train versus motor vehicle incident.

Spring City Borough Emergency Management responded to support the extended multi-agency operation, assisting with emergency management coordination and traffic control operations while the incident and railroad operations continued.

We appreciate the cooperation of Royersford Fire Department, Upper Providence Township Fire & Emergency Services, Liberty Fire Company, law enforcement, fire police, EMS, and all mutual aid agencies involved.

Strong regional coordination and mutual aid are critical when incidents cross municipal and county boundaries. We’re always ready to assist our neighbors when called upon.

TORNADO WARNING ENDED

The Tornado Warning for portions of Chester and Delaware Counties has expired as of 6:00 PM.

Continue to remain weather aware as storms move through the region. Damaging winds, heavy rainfall, and localized flooding may still be possible.

Avoid flooded roadways and use caution around downed trees, power lines, and storm debris.

Continue monitoring official National Weather Service alerts for any additional warnings.

The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Warning until 6:00 PM EDT for portions of Chester and Delaware Counties.

Radar indicates rotation with severe thunderstorms moving east at approximately 45 mph. These storms are capable of producing tornadoes and significant damaging winds.

TAKE SHELTER NOW.

* Move to a basement or interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building.
* Stay away from windows.
* If outdoors, in a vehicle, or in a mobile home, move to the nearest substantial shelter immediately.
* Do not wait to see or hear a tornado.
* Never drive through flooded roadways.

Impacted areas include West Chester, Coatesville, Downingtown, Kennett Square, Parkesburg, Paoli, Westtown, and surrounding communities.

🚗 Avoid driving during severe storms unless absolutely necessary.
🌳 Secure any loose outdoor items that could become airborne in strong winds.

The Spring City Borough Office of Emergency Management has officially issued a Cheesesteak Watch for the borough. Conditions are favorable for cheesesteaks to appear throughout the day.

Now is the time to prepare:

• Make sure you have napkins ready
• Charge your phone so you don’t miss the “it’s here” text

⚠️ FLASH FLOOD WARNING

The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Warning for portions of Chester County due to heavy thunderstorms producing dangerous rainfall.

Heavy rain has already fallen across the region, with additional rainfall expected. Flash flooding can develop quickly, especially in low-lying areas, near creeks and streams, and on roadways.

If you encounter a flooded road, TURN AROUND, DON’T DROWN. Most flood-related fatalities occur in vehicles. Never attempt to drive or walk through floodwaters, and use extra caution during your evening commute.

Residents should monitor local weather conditions, avoid unnecessary travel through flooded areas, and be prepared to move to higher ground if flooding develops.

If you encounter an emergency, call 911. Continue to monitor trusted weather sources and the National Weather Service for updates.
