Penns Valley Area School District Penns Valley Area School District is a rural school district in Centre County, Pennsylvania.

The district has four buildings: Penns Valley Junior/Senior High School, Penns Valley Elementary/Intermediate School, Centre Hall-Potter Elementary School, and Miles Township Elementary School.

Congratulations to our Penns Valley students who were recognized as the 2026 Aspiring Historian Project Award winners! 🎉

This exciting program, launched in the spring of 2026, challenges high school students to explore and share Centre County history through their own research projects, utilizing both primary and secondary sources.

We are incredibly proud to recognize our three Penns Valley award winners:

🥇 1st Place – Hannah Herklotz
Aaronsburg — Research Paper

🥈 2nd Place – Brandt Martin
The Legacy of the Centre County Grange Fair — Research Paper

🥉 3rd Place – Hope Wolfe
The Old Improvement — Research Paper

A special THANK YOU and congratulations to Penns Valley High School Social Studies Teacher Mr. Martin Tobias for his leadership and mentorship in helping our students explore local history and develop their research skills.

All three Penns Valley students represented our school and community with pride, curiosity, and excellence. We couldn't be more proud of their accomplishments!

The Penns Valley Area School District welcomed back our students and staff today after a great summer break! We hope everyone had a wonderful summer filled with fun, family, and plenty of memories.

What a great evening at PVE and PVEI! It was wonderful to see so many of our students and families back in our schools, reconnecting with friends, meeting teachers, and getting ready for another great school year.

Today, Penns Valley SD welcomed back our amazing teachers and staff for the first day of in-service as we get ready to kick off another exciting school year! 📚✏️

And what better way to start the morning than with some PV RAMS spirit! 🐏 Our very own Penns Valley Cheerleaders and Drumline helped welcome everyone back and brought the energy needed to get the school year started on the right note! 📣

We are so excited to have our staff back in the buildings and can’t wait to welcome our students back after the fair!

🌲🔥 Penns Valley Shares the Impact of Biomass at Agriculture Summit

Congressman Glenn Thompson hosted an Agriculture Summit today at Central Pennsylvania Institute (CPI) focused on forestry, fuel, and fiber across the Commonwealth.

Penns Valley Area School District was honored to be invited to share information about our Biomass Heating Facility and the impact this innovative project has had on our schools, our community, and the local forestry industry.

🌲 Did you know?

Our biomass system uses approximately 1,200 tons of woodchips each year to help provide heat to both Penns Valley Elementary Intermediate School and Penns Valley High School.

💰 The system has saved the district approximately $250,000 per year in heating costs.

🏫 The original project cost approximately $3.3 million, with roughly half of the project funded through grant funding. Through the annual savings generated by the system, the district was able to recoup its remaining investment in approximately seven years.

🌎 Now approaching 15 years of operation, our biomass facility continues to provide significant cost savings to the district while utilizing a local renewable resource and helping reduce our carbon footprint.

We were proud to share the Penns Valley story with Secretary of Agriculture Russell Redding and Director of Forestry Sam Cassel, who were among the panelists available to answer questions and discuss the future of forestry, fuel, and fiber in Pennsylvania.

We also had the opportunity to connect with many other local representatives and community leaders who were interested in learning more about the innovative things happening at Penns Valley.

A special thank you to Congressman Glenn Thompson and his staff for hosting this important event and for giving Penns Valley the opportunity to showcase how a forward-thinking investment made nearly 15 years ago continues to benefit our students, our taxpayers, and our community today.
