This past weekend The Spring Valley Fire Protection District had four rookies graduate high school!
Junior Rookie Jihun “Brax” Kim. Brax, who came here for school, lives in Colorado, graduated from St. Bede Academy. Moving forward, he will be attending Lamar Community College in Colorado and pursuing an Agriculture Business Degree while competing on the rodeo team as a saddle bronc rider through his rodeo scholarship. After completing two years at community college, he plans to transfer and finish his degree at a four-year college. After completing his education, his goal is to become a full-time firefighter and work for a department such as Denver, South Metro, or West Metro Fire. Brax became a good friend to all of us here during his time on the department and we wish him the best of luck going forward and hope that he comes back to visit us!
Junior Rookie Aleksander “Alek” Koch. Alek graduated from Hall High School. This summer you will see Alek working for D&M landscaping here in town. He then plans to go to IVCC to study welding, and when he is done with college, he wants to join the Mill Writes or work for Ameren. Alek will be continuing to serve our community along side all of us at the Spring Valley Fire Protection District!
Rookie Hunter Foster. Hunter graduated early in December from LaSalle-Peru High School. Hunter is currently working as an EMT-Basic and plans to purse a career in Fire and EMS. He plans to obtain his Paramedic License and then go to fire academy to eventually go full-time in the fire service. Hunter will also continue to serve our community along side all of us at the Spring Valley Fire Protection District going forward!
Rookie Jesse Korte. Jesse obtained his GED while working full time for the family business, Korte & Turpen Tree Service. Jesse plans to keep helping and learning how to run the family business along side his brother Jimmy. Jesse will also continue to serve our community with us at the Spring Valley Fire Protection District!
Congratulations to all of our young men for accomplishing this milestone and we can’t wait to see what awaits ahead for these hard working guys! Keep making us proud!
