A lovely walk about at Otter Haven this morning - checking on the newly planted pine varieties, finding pacoon, and lupine well on its way. We also planted native flowers we grew from seed this spring 🥰.

Mrs. Goose was napping, until she sensed us walking by. She roused, and flew from the nest, alerting the world to our presence. We quietly trekked on, delighting in the tufts of Lupine cropping up in the Low Meadow.

Spring, and all of its transitional array of weather and wildlife. The woodcock had dinner on our hillside, while the wolf trekked the trails.

“I think I’m going to spend some time birding this morning,” Damian smiled over the pile of pancakes.

“Sounds like a good way to start today,” I smiled back.

“Oooo Dad, can I come!?” Our 10 year old enthused.

“Dad, do you know where my camera is?” Our 8 year old soared in.

Damian smiled. He loves his boys, and that they want to to be with him on the land, “Sure.”

Breakfast in their hoppers, cameras over their shoulders, and after their dad they flew.

While on the way to clear 6” of snow from the solar panels, I came upon evidence of the playful friend we named our Airbnb after. It’s always good to know they’ve been near.

Spring's bird migration is always a welcome sign that winter is receding. The pond in font of the Guest House opens, and our feathered friends fly over in search of home. Swans tend to come first, then the geese, then other waterfowl. We'll slip through March's mud as the sun sets west, to peer through the Guest House windows as the birds come home.
