New laws to help recruit National Guard members and support our veterans were signed into law. Thank yo to everyone who supported these bills to help Illinois military veterans!

SPRINGFIELD, IL – Three bills sponsored and supported by Rep. Wayne Rosenthal (R-Morrisonville) were signed into law last week. These new laws seek to increase National Guard recruitment and improve higher education and mental health services for veterans. They go into effect January 1, 2027.

Today I had visitors from the Teddy Bear Daycare in Riverton. It is great to have young people come to learn about their government and see the state Capitol.

Open Space Land Acquisition and Development grants help local governments acquire land and develop public parks and outdoor recreation areas. Applications for the grants are open now through August 31.

A total of $37.5 million is available for this round of OSLAD grants. IDNR will again provide funding to cover 100% of eligible projects in economically distressed communities. In the most recent round of OSLAD awards announced in January, 20 underserved locations received grants for local park projects.
