State Representative Mike Coffey serves the constituents of Illinois’ 95th Legislative District that includes parts of Sangamon County, including portions of the City of Springfield and Villages of Chatham and Rochester as well as parts of Macon and Christian Counties. Since 2005, Mike has chaired the Springfield Metropolitan Exposition and Auditorium Authority (SMEAA) board, which governs the Ban

k of Springfield Center. He has served on that board since 1997 promoting tourism and economic growth in Sangamon County. As a lifelong resident of Springfield, Representative Coffey and his family have longstanding and deep ties to Sangamon County. Upon his graduation in 1992 from the University of Illinois with a degree in Political Science, Mike joined the family business, ultimately managing the popular restaurant. In 2015 he opened his own eatery, Papa Frank’s also in Springfield. Representative Coffey brings his small business experience and record of providing superior service to his position in the Illinois General Assembly. He is committed to working on behalf of the people he represents working across the aisle to get the job done.

We’re Hiring: Region 4 Traffic Safety Liaison 🚗

Do you have a passion for traffic safety, public education, and making a difference in your community? The ILACP Foundation is seeking a Region 4 Illinois Regional Traffic Safety Liaison (TSL) to help serve 30+ counties in central Illinois.

This full-time, grant-funded position works closely with IDOT’s Bureau of Safety Programs and Engineering and focuses on occupant protection, child passenger safety, impaired driving, distracted driving, teen driving, and other traffic safety initiatives.

The position offers a $67,000–$71,000 annual salary plus a benefits package, including health insurance, paid time off, and a Simple IRA match.

We’re looking for someone with experience in safety education or program delivery, strong communication and organizational skills, and a commitment to building partnerships throughout the region. Child Passenger Safety Technician certification is preferred, but candidates can obtain certification after hire.

Illinois families pay the highest property taxes in the nation, placing a significant burden on homeowners, farmers, and small businesses. Rising property tax bills continue to strain household budgets and make it more difficult for communities to attract and retain residents and employers.

Two ways to lower property taxes immediately:

✅ Increases the percentage of revenue allocated to the LGDF so more tax dollars fund local municipalities.

✅ Create a property tax relief pilot program to provide direct financial assistance to eligible homeowners.
