Today was a great example of neighboring agencies working together and supporting one another.

Chief Lundy with the Guyton Police Department officially swore in and welcomed their newest officer, Corey Macomber. Following that ceremony, our own Chief Woodcock also had the honor of swearing in Officer Macomber.

Starting this week, the Springfield Police Department will begin field training Guyton’s newest officer as part of our continued partnership and commitment to helping each other grow stronger together.

We’re proud to work alongside agencies that value teamwork, mentorship, and community. Congratulations and welcome to law enforcement — we look forward to being part of the journey!

The Springfield Police Department Administrative Office will be closed Monday, May 25, 2026, in observance of Memorial Day. Regular business hours will resume Tuesday, May 26.

Also joining us today is the Effingham County VFW with Bingo and fun games for our seniors to enjoy. Stop by for a free car wash, minor vehicle repairs, community resources, and a great time with our local partners and Springfield Police Officers.
