Please make use of the sign up links as it helps us gauge how much assistance we have for each task so we can plan accordingly. We want to strike a balance between effort and enjoyment so everyone can feel like they are contributing meaningfully while also being able to socialize and have fun. With that, there may be times when there are a lot of tasks to complete and other times where there may not be enough tasks for everyone. When you use the sign-up, we can provide a more consistent and balanced experience.
We want to emphasize, however, that everyone is welcome to stay and hang out even if the tasks are slim or you’ve finished yours early. While the focus of our meal prep sessions is to prep some meals, it is also our goal is to build a stronger community by getting to know you!

In Solidarity~

Food Not Bombs SPI's free meal/produce shares are on the đź”…2nd and 4th Saturdaysđź”… of the month, and we've added another produce share this month for
➡️Saturday, August 29 at 4pm at Union Square Park⬅️
500 E Madison Ave. We'll be setting up by the northeast picnic tables. All are welcome!

Yesterday, we had a great turnout at our produce share at First Presbyterian Church and saw lots of longtime friends and new faces! Just about everything was gone within the first 30 minutes, and absolutely everything was gone by 5:30pm! If you want more variety of produce, please show up right at the start! We will be there until all produce is gone or 6pm. Bring your reusable grocery bags/boxes/carts if you have them, but we will have bags for you if you don't.

We will also share water, clothing, and harm reduction supplies for free with whoever wants them.

We share in the spirit of solidarity, not charity. We are a mutual aid group; people in community helping each other and building alternate support structures, not checking off a "good deeds" list. No one is above the food, and no one is above the people taking the food. Leave what you can, take what you want.

Food Not Bombs has lots of great produce to share (for free!) at 1st Presbyterian Church at 4PM on Saturday (today!).

Being in a sheltered area has made these shares a lot more comfortable for everyone involved, but we understand it's hard to see us now. Please spread the word that we're inside the building instead of being outside on the corner of 7th and Capitol where we used to set up! We're working on getting more signage outside.

Enter from the parking lot on Capitol Ave or through the garden arch gate on 7th Street.

Dear neighbors,

The Richmond Housing & Health Rights Coalition (HHRC) invites the community to share a meal this Saturday, August 22nd, at 1:00 PM. It'll be a potluck, so feel free to bring food, though you are welcome to join us regardless.

It's no secret that the majority of poor and working folks in our city are going through it - whether they are suffering under the heel of slumlords or they are being denied the healthcare access they deserve. Our aim with our potlucks is to hold a space where the community can not only vent their frustration, anger, and sadness over how poor and working folks in this city are treated, but also step away from the anguish, break bread together, and enjoy some good food.

We should acknowledge that we consider anybody who enters our space and continues to struggle against the issues we are faced with to be a leader, and thus somebody whose voice will be heard as we build our coalition together.

We'll see you there!

Best,
- Jimmy

Next Saturday, the 22nd, we're sharing free produce inside First Presbyterian Church at 4PM. We encourage everyone to bring their reusable grocery bags, but we'll have bags for you to use, too! All are welcome, no documentation ever required, everything shared freely!

We still need a bit of help sorting through donated produce on Friday evening and transporting everything Saturday afternoon, so if you have some time to help make this event happen, please check out the time slots below or check our linktree.
