Come Out and Help Make Springfield a Better Place for All! LLDSA is canvassing to support Jennifer Notariano in obtaining enough signatures to get onto the Ward 6 municipal ballot. Notariano wants a City Council that works for all citizens, endorses establishing a Landlord Registry to protect renters, and advocates against Flock Cameras. Help make Springfield a vibrant and thriving city, while meeting some great folks! Shifts are 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. and 2:30 to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2026. LLDSA’s Gardening Committee has been busy the last few weeks. We’ve gotten our members trained to harvest for Motherland Gardens Community Project free produce giveaways, and harvested a comical amount of carrots from DSA’s plot, which were donated to Food Not Bombs Springfield, IL for their produce giveaway yesterday. We also planted Kale, Green Onions, Cabbage, and Chard to make sure we can keep donating as the growing season draws to a close. Most importantly, we saw a cool spider.

Motherland Gardens will be giving away more produce on August 26th and 28th starting at 1pm and continuing as long as supplies last. The next produce share from Food Not Bombs will be next Saturday, August 29th, at 4pm at Union Square Park.
