Join us and the Ozark Foothills CW Farm folks May 17 starting at 1PM for Craft Day at our friend Kelly’s house. Theo will bring the soup and you can bring your knitting, whittling, coloring book, sewing, or whatever project you’re working on. Not much of a crafter? Come learn a new skill with us or just hang out! We’ll be hanging around for a few hours so folks can drop in as it fits their schedule. Text Theo at 314-320-5129 to RSVP and get Kelly’s south city address.

What better way to celebrate the Catholic Worker Movement’s 93rd birthday than by marching with a couple thousand of our friends through the streets of our city for May Day?

Today is the St. Louis CW’s birthday!

On this day 3 years ago we first publicly announced we were dreaming of starting a new Catholic Worker house in StL and it was around this time 2 years ago we were moving into our community house!

Since then we’ve distributed tens of thousands of burritos around the St. Louis area, housed numerous folks in need at our home on Mora Ln, and fought back against the filthy rotten system in our city and across the country.

We couldn’t do it without the help of all our volunteers and extended community of support. Thanks to everyone who helps us do all that we do!

Thanks to everyone who came out to our Godzilla movie night!

It was fascinating to hear Emily’s takes on the original Japanese film which had to be heavily edited before release in the US because of its anti nuclear bomb critiques. Did you know that the opening scene was a direct reference to the Japanese fishing vessel Daigo Fukuryū Maru ("Lucky Dragon No. 5") which had been showered with radioactive fallout from the U.S. military's 15-megaton "Castle Bravo" hydrogen bomb test at nearby Bikini Atoll?

If you get a chance to watch the original, keep in mind it was made just 9 years after the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. You’ll surely realize this film is an attempt to reckon with those events.

If you want to join us for our May ‘clarification of thought’ you can start reading Octavia Butler’s The parable of the Sower now and keep an eye out for dates for our upcoming conversation!

If you want join us for some anti nuclear weapons action, we’ll be in Kansas City next weekend for the Midwest Catholic Worker Faith and Resistance Retreat! Message us for details!
