Itโs a beautiful day to get out and PLAY!
Visit the Rowser Building to learn about the rich history in Stafford in honor of Black History Month. Originally built in 1939 by the Public Works Administration as the Stafford Training School, it was the only place where Black Students could received an education beyond the 7th grade.
The Rowser Building features an African American history mural that commemorates the significant contributions made by the African American Community.
Th Rowser Building is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places and, as a Virginia Landmark. Learn more about the Rowser Building and ways you can celebrate Black History Month in Stafford at TourStaffordVA.com.

Alert!!!
Be careful while driving the back roads of Hartwood, Rock Hill, and Fauquier there's an annual Cycling event going on.
This event just demonstrates the need of more bike friendly infrastructure. If we had the trail infrastructure in place, we could promote many more events like this for worthy causes that will help bring tourism and tax revenue to Stafford while it helps our businesses to prosper.
I look forward to one day having that infrastructure in place. There are proposals for $10 B in Federal Greenway Trail Infrastructure spending that our region needs to prepare to tap into if it becomes available. The key to success it to be ready for opportunity when it comes.

If you're headed to the Historic Port of Falmouth (Falmouth Beach) this weekend, you'll notice some new signs with some important safety information from Stafford Parks. Please remember to wear your life jacket, it just might save your life!
Stafford County is continuously evaluating ways to make folks safer at our parks and facilities, especially at the Historic Port of Falmouth Park. That stretch of the Rappahannock can appear very unthreatening but contains many hidden dangers such as unpredictable currents, slippery rocks and hidden debris. Check out the video and linked story with awesome safety information for patrons. Friends of the Rappahannock Stafford Parks Stafford County Fire and Rescue

This past weekend, SCFR had the opportunity to be a part of filming a video coordinated by the Stafford County Government Community Engagement team with involvement from Supervisor Meg Bohmke, Supervisor Tom Coen, Friends of the Rappahannock, Stafford Parks, and the Coast Guard Auxiliary to share information on how to safely enjoy Falmouth Beach and the Rappahannock River. We look forward to seeing the finished product! As always, if youโre headed out on the water, wear your life jacket and be safe.
