Stanford SEEDS Stanford Strategies for Ecology Education, Diversity, and Sustainability is the Stanford chapter of the SEEDS program of the Ecological Society for America

We are committed to increasing awareness of local ecosystems; engaging students in ecology & environmental science; providing opportunities for students of all backgrounds in environmental science fields; and promoting conservation efforts. SEEDS will be having our annual BioBlitz in Lake Lag next Saturday! We'll be surveying the awesome biodiversity right here on Stanford campus, and will be hosting experts on local ecology and nature illustration. Stop by at the Lake Lag fire pit any time between 6am and 2pm and check us out! All students, staff, faculty, and community members are welcome.

Come to a public lecture this Friday at 12 given by Dr. Laurie Marker, founder of The Cheetah Conservation Fund. Dr. Marker has been awarded the Tyler Prize for Environmental Achievement (2010). She was named a Hero for the Planet by TIME Magazine and has been featured in Smithsonian, Discover, and National Geographic. Food will be provided!

Come to an exciting talk this Friday: Hoyo Negro and the oldest most complete human remains ever found in the Americas - 1:15 pm in the Bechtel International Center!

This talk will recall the exploration efforts leading to the discovery of Hoyo Negro (Black Hole), a large pit at 57m inside an underwater cave in the Yutacan Peninsula.
