DDA Members are so in aww at the amount of residents who have decorated this year that they decided to award a lucky resident with a surprise award.

Congratulations Paul & Trina Kellams who live at the end of North Mill Street who were selected as this years recipient for their storyboard themed that wraps around 3/4 of their home. They received a wreath, made and donated by Birdie's Antiques & More and a gift certificate donated from the Stanton American Legion for meals.

We encourage you to drive around down this weekend and enjoy the lights our residents have displayed. Please know it was very hard to choose just one recipient, everyone has done a great job!

Next year we look forward to rolling out an Official Residential Contest, so be looking for more news to come! (If you would like to be a part of setting up the official rules of this new contest we encourage you to contact city hall to sit on the committee)

Muddy Boots Tour & Fundraiser Set for New Habitat Home in Stanton

November 1, 2019 – Stanton, Michigan: Construction of the newest Montcalm County Habitat for Humanity home is progressing nicely. Community members can check out the progress by participating in a ‘Muddy Boots Tour’ and fundraiser November 10 in Stanton.

The 2nd annual Muddy Boots Tour allows community members and Habitat for Humanity stakeholders an opportunity to see the progress on the current home build and, if interested, adopt a portion of the home to support the organization’s home build program.

The tour and event will be Sunday, November 10 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the future home of Amanda Mansel and her son Ty at 134 E. First Street in Stanton. “It’s a lot of fun,” said Michael Adams, Executive Director for Montcalm County Habitat
for Humanity.

“We encourage everyone to come out and see the progress on the home – but wear your boots and bring a coat, as we don’t have heat in the home yet.” Items in the home will be up for adoption as a way for Habitat for Humanity donors to support the organization in a unique, fun way.

“We’ll have door knobs to appliances ready to be adopted,” said Kamey Krum-Howe, Montcalm County Habitat for Humanity President. “The event is an opportunity for folks
to walk through the home under construction, learn about the Habitat for Humanity mission and ask questions about our build process.”

Adoption prices will start as low as $10. Hot chocolate, coffee and cookies will be served..

Reminder: We have an election on Tuesday, November 5, 2019. The polls are open 7 am to 8 pm. For this election we are trying something new. We will be using our Voter Assistance Terminal machine to mark the ballots, therefore paper ballots will not be available. Using the Voter Assistance Terminal is very cost effective due to not having to order traditional ballots. It is simple to use and our staff will be on hand to walk anyone through it that needs help.

ATTENTION: Water main/ Hydrant flushing scheduled for Oct. 28

MONDAY, OCTOBER 28, 2019- The Department of Public Works will be flushing water mains and hydrants at 10:00 p.m. Flushing can cause temporary discolored water, this is normal. It is recommended not to use water between 10:00 p.m. on Oct. 28th to the morning of Oct. 29th. This eliminates any of the "flushing" water from coming into your pipes. If you do experience discolored water, run COLD water from the tap until clear. Any questions, please call City Hall (989) 831-4440.
