You will see some shout outs to our current band sponsors in the coming weeks. We're very exited to honor these businesses and folks here!
The support all around town has been fantastic so far! Everybody has been super kind and gracious. If our band parents continue to work hard and partner with local businesses, band kids should be receiving a meal on games days! That's the main goal at the moment.
Why is it important to feed our band kids? Because the band leaves with the football team on away game days. Sometimes right after school. Traditionally, the band gets the first chance to take a short break during 3rd quarter. If the concession stand is busy, backed up, or runs out, students don't get to eat at all till they return to Star City. By that time, it can be as late as 11 pm on some days.
Not to mention that some kids don't have money on them for concessions when the band travels.
And then there are the marching competitions on Saturdays, starting in October. That's full days of traveling and performing. Students will do much better when they aren't hungry.
*Any support helps: Sponsors can provide a meal, fix it all up, and bring it to the school on game days. Band Boosters could also pick up.
You don't have to be a business to help. Anybody can!
*Another option is to make a monetary donation. The Band Boosters can work it out and use the funds to provide a meal.
Meals don't have to be fancy: Our band kids love a sandwich sack lunch and are grateful for having something in their bellies before they hit the green and perform for the stands.
As band parents, we just worry less when we know that our students are taken care of.
