Please move over people!

WHILE YOU WERE SLEEPING: Around 2 a.m. Sunday, one of our deputies was taken to the hospital after being rear-ended on I-275 near E Floribraska Ave.

The deputy was stopped with emergency lights on to block another deputy conducting a DUI investigation.
The driver of the silver Nissan Altima, who was not impaired, said he didn't notice the patrol vehicle before hitting it. He was cited for Careless Driving and Violation of the Move Over Law.

“Moving over is not an option or a courtesy when you see law enforcement or emergency vehicles on the side of the road. It’s the law. We are very fortunate that our deputy, nor the other driver involved, was seriously hurt in this crash. With fewer cars on the road right now, it’s easy for some drivers to let their guard down or even speed. I’m asking everyone to remain vigilant and cautious when traveling through Hillsborough County." - #SheriffChadChronister
