Countryside Townhomes - A Better Roof Over Your Head! http://chng.it/VWBT6H7P2f PLEASE review and sign the online petition to revise the Countryside Architectural guidelines to allow the use of modern quality architectural shingles on Scarborough townhouses. Single family homeowners and even some townhouses in C'side have the discretion to use architectural shingles, which is a superior product in every way. We must change the guidelines during the annual revisions review. Your help is greatly need to provide a solid voice of support. If you are the owner of a Scarborough style townhouse (Morven Woods, etc.), please mention that in the comments. THANK YOU! Dirk & Patsy Johnson http://chng.it/VWBT6H7P2f
ATTN PLEASE: TOWNHOUSE OWNERS in COUNTRYSIDE I am attempting to get the C’side guidelines changed to allow architectural shingles on roofs. I may need some other homeowner support. Some background: Like many of our legacy guidelines, the current guidelines for townhouse roof shingles reflect the original developer’s guidelines. They were put in place to benefit the developer, not homeowners. These guidelines prohibit what are known as architectural shingles, but ONLY on townhouses. Once the developer was gone, Countryside “grandfathered” most of those guidelines, as a starting point, regardless if they served the homeowners or not. Architectural shingles are superior product It is widely known that architectural shingles are superior in all aspects to the approved three-tab shingles that are permitted now. While very similar to three-tab shingles, the material of architectural shingles is thicker, the shingles are installed with more integrity (i.e. no loose flaps and with additional adhesive). It is also common knowledge that architectural shingles have much higher wind and hail damage resistance ratings, much longer warranties, and much longer life span ratings that three-tab shingles. In addition, the visual difference in negligible. Architectural shingles come in the same colors as three-tab, and we’ve found a design that has a very similar “cut” to three tab. The visual variance is negligible. What’s more, per our current roof replacement quote, from a highly respected roofing contractor in NoVA, they will provide architectural shingles at the same price as three tab. In other words, we can get a much better quality roof, for the same price, while maintaining he visual integrity of the neighborhood. We just need the guidelines changed. NAC meeting tonight. My wife and I have submitted a request to Change the guidelines. I will be attending the NAC meeting tonight, to make the case. However, I need the support of other townhouse owners. The townhouse roofs we all have were ALL replaced by Weyerhauser in the mid 1990s, as part of a class action settlement. However, those replaced roofs are now at the end of their life expectancy. Many of us will need new roofs in the next 5 years. It makes no sense to install inferior product on our roofs, just to satisfy the guidelines that were established by a long-gone developer, some 35 years ago. Single family homeowners in C’side are not constrained by this arbitrary limitation. Only townhouse owners. If you are townhouse owner in Countryside, PLEASE email me, Dirk Johnson, at [email protected] or send me a private message of support and I will pass this along to the NAC. Roofs are one of the primary structural elements of a house. We need to be able to take advantage of the better technology that is available, especially when the change is of little additional cost and maintains the visual integrity of the neighborhood.
My son and stepson are continuing to offer yard work services. They ask to be paid based on their performance and do not have set rates. Please feel free to reach out to me if you'd like to learn more or schedule them!
Dear Neighbors, Grace Covenant Church-Sterling has distributed reusable grocery bags in the CountrySide community twice to collect food to help support local food pantries, such as Mobile Hope of Loudoun and others. We have collected over 8,000 lbs of food so far!! Thank you to all who have donated! The needs in our community are only continuing to rise and these pantries need to be restocked. That's why - we've decided to do it again! We'll be distributing reusable food bags TODAY, Saturday, August 22nd in other parts of CountrySide (mainly the Welbourne area) and collect filled bags Saturday, August 29th. This effort will be completely no-contact and all our team will be wearing masks & gloves. If you live in CountrySide, you may see a bag from GCC-Sterling on your porch with a flyer attached. Simply fill the bag with non-perishable items, and place it back on your porch on 8/29 by 9am. Then our team will be by to collect it on the 29th. All the details will also be on the flyer attached to the bag. If you want to donate, but don't receive a bag, please email [email protected] for details. Thank you for considering donating to this cause! **Permission was received from CountrySide HOA to distribute bags***
