The Bike Team specializes in providing EMS care at special events where conventional ambulance care is limited or impractical. Since 1996 the Sterling Rescue Squad has operate an EMS Bicycle Team.

The team specializes in supporting large or special events with rapid response medical teams where conventional EMS would be limited. We even support regional and national events such as the Marine Corps Marathon and the National Independence Day Celebration.

Sterling Rescue will be kicking off a week of celebration for our 50th anniversary on Saturday, Oct. 11th with an Open House and Parade. Come out and visit us at our station on Commerce St. in Sterling, VA. The Open House runs from 10am to 4pm, we would love to see you there.
On September 29, 2014 Sterling Rescue took delivery of a new 2014 ASAP rescue vehicle. The unit will be replacing our old Gator.

Our last event was on July 4th when the team was deployed to the National Mall in Washington, DC to assist the National Park Service with the National Independence Day Celebration. The weather was perfect for a safe and enjoyable holiday for all who attended. The team deployed two bike teams and our Gator for this event.
The Bike Team is off to a strong start in 2014. We have already had seven deployments during the months of March and April. Our next event will be the Apple Blossom Festival next weekend. We hope to see you there.

The Bike Team would like to thank our department, Sterling Rescue Squad for their support of the National EMS Memorial Bike Ride last week. To learn more about the bike ride visit www.muddyangels.com.
The East Coast Route: The Ride will begin in Rockland, Maine, in order to honor Dr. Frederick LaRochelle, past member of the NEMSMBR Board of Directors, who passed away in 2012. The Ride will conclude in Philadelphia (Collingdale), Pennsylvania.
