Thankful for our friends at Unlimited Play Playgrounds 💚🛝

How does a community meet their fundraising goals? One step at a time, and never alone. 💙

Inclusive playground projects typically come together through grants, local fundraising and donations of every size. Unlimited Play walks with each community to provide fundraising support and public funding guidance. Together, we can bring your project to life!

Have you ever tried pushing a stroller or a wheelchair through woodchips? 🪵🤔 It's nearly impossible.

For a child using a mobility device, traditional playground surfacing is the first and biggest barrier. That’s why the JeffCo Community Playground will feature 100% Poured-in-Place (PIP) rubber surfacing! 🥳 This smooth, durable, and safe surface allows wheels of all kinds—wheelchairs, walkers, and strollers—to glide effortlessly across the entire play area. Every child will have full access to every corner of the park. 🦽🚶‍♀️✨

Help us lay the foundation for truly barrier-free play in Steubenville. Your donation makes this accessible surface a reality! 👇💖

What if a playground could be a haven for children who experience sensory overload? 🎧🤫

Play is vital, but traditional parks can often be overwhelming with loud noises, bright lights, and intense activity. We are designing the JeffCo Community Playground to be a supportive space for neurodivergent children and those with sensory processing sensitivities. Our plan includes dedicated tactile sensory panels, soothing sound elements, and a "Quiet Grove" where a child can take a peaceful break and regulate without having to leave the fun behind. ❤️🧠✨

We are committed to creating a space where every mind and body feels comfortable and welcome. Support our mission of full inclusion by donating today! 👇👇

🛝 Did you know that standard plastic playground slides can actually break a child's hearing device?

Static electricity buildup on standard slides can short out cochlear implants, forcing children with hearing loss to play in silence. ⚡🔇

That is why the JeffCo Community Playground will feature a specialized, cochlear-safe Roller Slide! ✨

This innovative slide ensures that every child can safely slide down without risking damage to their hearing equipment. 🦻 No child should ever have to choose between having fun and being able to hear their friends! 🥰

We are removing every barrier to play, but we need your support to reach our goal. Click the link below to donate! 👇💖

Have you ever seen a playground glider big enough for the whole neighborhood to ride at once? 🤩

The Together Glider at the new JeffCo Community Playground features a massive 70-square-feet deck!
This accessible structure is designed to promote social development by allowing 10 or more children to play together at the same time. 🧑‍🦽🏃‍♀️ Because it is universally accessible, children using mobility devices can easily join the fun alongside their peers.

Help us bring this incredible piece of equipment to Jim Wood Park by making a donation today. 💚

🚫 MYTH-BUSTING MONDAY: "Inclusive playgrounds are only for special needs families."

FALSE! 💙

This is one of the biggest misconceptions we encounter. The JeffCo Community Playground will be designed so that everyone benefits!

Universal design means the park is equally engaging, safe, and challenging for all people, regardless of their ability level. It is about removing barriers, not creating separate play spaces.

When children play together, they learn:
✅ Empathy & Understanding
✅ Accepting Differences
✅ Diverse Physical Coordination

We are not building a playground just for some families; we are building a playground to help our entire community grow stronger and kinder together. 🌟

☀️ THE VIEW FROM THE BENCH ☀️

Sundays are for family, reflection, and looking forward to the future. We often focus on the joy of children playing, but take a moment to consider the caregivers.

For many parents and grandparents of children with physical and cognitive challenges, a traditional playground visit is not relaxing. It is a time of high stress, constant lifting, and often, the heartbreaking realization that their child is excluded from the core activities. They watch from the sidelines, explaining why a space isn't suitable for them.

The JeffCo Community Playground will change the view from that park bench.

Our 100% poured-in-place rubber surfacing and thoughtfully placed, accessible equipment allow caregivers to relax and connect, both with their children and with other families, in a supportive environment. It is a space designed for community integration, where everyone belongs.

Thank you for believing in this dream with us. Let's keep pushing forward together! 🌳💙

This week, we want to say a massive THANK YOU to our incredible JeffCo Playground Committee and all the behind-the-scenes volunteers who dedicate their time, energy, and expertise to this project.

They aren't doing it for recognition; they are doing it because they believe in the future of the Ohio Valley and want every single family to have a place where they truly belong. 🌳✨

When our park officially breaks ground, it will be a victory for this entire community of supporters.
