The objectives of the UWSP Fire Crew are to provide the opportunity for practical experience in wildland firefighting, prescribed burning fire behavior, monitoring and research, and the practical application of wildland fire science for members. Members will work with local fire suppression personnel on a professional basis to gain an understanding of fire fighting logistics and tactics employed i
n wildfire suppression and prescribed burning. Members are provided the opportunity to receive L-180, S-190, S-130, ICS-100 and many other NWCG accredited courses. Additional educational opportunities include being a student instructor for the basic Firefighter Type 2 class and participating in any of the annual burn trips in Florida, South Carolina and Cook County, Illinois.
