🏡 Pre-Qualification vs. Pre-Approval: What’s the Difference?
Many people think these terms mean the same thing, but they don’t—and knowing the difference can make your homebuying journey much smoother!
✅ Pre-Qualification
This is usually the first step. You provide basic information about your income, debts, and assets, and the lender gives you an estimate of what you may be able to afford. It’s quick, but it isn’t verified.
✅ Pre-Approval
This is a more in-depth process. A lender reviews your financial documents, verifies your income, checks your credit, and determines how much they’re willing to lend you. A pre-approval letter shows sellers you’re a serious, qualified buyer and can give you an advantage in a competitive market.
💡 Bottom Line: If you’re serious about buying a home, getting pre-approved is one of the smartest first steps you can take!
