Happy National Beach Day! Today is a day to remember and celebrate the importance of our nation’s beaches, essential coastal spaces that benefit recreation and tourism, local economies, wildlife habitat, and storm protection, all while creating lifelong memories for millions of Americans. Here are some things you can do to celebrate beaches not just today, but every day:
Hit the Shore: Spend the day by the sea, whether that means swimming, walking the shoreline, or simply enjoying the view.
Share the Love: Capture the beauty of a beach you love. Share photos, art, and memories to inspire others to care for the coast.
Join a Coastal Cleanup: Did you know cigarette butts are the leading pollutant found on beaches, containing toxic plastic and chemicals? Picking up litter directly reduces the plastic and debris that harm marine wildlife.

Shop Local: Support the businesses that will help to grow the local coastal economy – from restaurants and cafes to the local surf shop! Help your community thrive.
Respect the Locals, Leave only Footprints: Take all trash and belongings home with you and encourage others to do the same. Many beaches have sensitive dune systems. Do not walk on or harm any native plantings, animals, or marine life!
