On July 30, family caregivers will have the chance to bring the issue of caregiving to the people that are asking for our votes in the August Primary Election. It appears as though family caregivers are not on their radar. Do we ever hear a politician talk about family caregivers? What will happen with Medicaid work requirements for non-paid caregivers? If a caregiver must work 80 hours per month, do they need to hire someone to provide caregiving while they’re away at work? Why is it so difficult for our government to recognize our unpaid labor with a tax credit?

In Wisconsin it is estimated that 580,000 unpaid caregivers are ignored by the government. Wouldn’t you just love to have the chance to tell your representatives your caregiving story? Well, here’s your chance. Burnett, Polk, Washburn, Sawyer and Douglas Counties along with La Courte Oreilles and St Croix Tribal Communities have come together to bring representatives and candidates so they may hear the needs of family caregivers. This event will be held:
July 30, 11:30 – 2:30 at the Spooner High School, 801 County Hwy A Spooner WI 54801

Your attendance displays solidarity with family caregivers throughout the state of Wisconsin!
Call: 715-635-4477 to register

This event will consist of a FREE luncheon and a short caregiver documentary followed by YOU (family caregivers) telling their stories and bringing awareness to their experiences in our rural area. There will be an hour allocated for caregivers that would like to tell their story. We will make copies of written stories and provide to the political attendees.
