Thank you to iur members who helped support this!

Now that the 2020 season is in the books, we want to take a moment to extend our sincerest gratitude. 🙏

We'd like to first thank our patrons. Your patience as we worked out technical bugs was very appreciated. This was new for all of us and we couldn't have done it without your grace. We'd also like to thank our vendors who took a huge leap of faith and switched up platforms to move online.

We are indebted to Uniroyal. Without the use of their parking lot, we couldn't have had a season at all.

Now a big thank you to those who contributed to the Buy One For a Neighbor in Need program. With many private donors, Stoughton Health, Stoughton Wellness Coalition, Stoughton FFA Alumni, and matching funds approved by the market's Board, we were able to provide nearly 1200 pounds of locally raised meat, eggs, and produce to the Stoughton United Methodist Church food pantry. We hope to expand this program next year to serve both local food pantries. Stay tuned to learn how you can help our farmers and neighbors in need.

Thanks for a great season. Stay healthy and well. We'll see you next year.

An update from the Wisconsin FFA Alumni

This #FeatureFriday is the last day of the 2019-2020 FFA Alumni and Supporters official roster year. All annual membership officially ends tonight at midnight, so we thought this would be a great time to highlight membership types and options.

1. All chapters will now be affiliated, as a result of the National FFA change. This means they will pay an annual national and state affiliation fee. This process will be shared with your local leaders next week, but it means that there will no longer be dues charged for annual members. With the affiliation fee, chapters will be allowed to have as many annual members as they want.

2. Lifetime Membership is still an encouraged option for members to make an investment in the state and national organization. The fee for lifetime membership is $ 350 and a large portion of that money is placed into investments to generate funds for leadership programs at the state and national level.

3. Associate membership is automatically given to graduating FFA members that have an active Alumni and Supporters chapter. This is given to members for 5 years, but once that is completed, they must choose to renew as annual members to stay on the roster.

In the next couple of weeks, we will share the benefits of Alumni and Supporters membership at the national, state and chapter level.

If you are interested in becoming an Alumni member, or in starting an FFA Alumni and Supporters chapter, please contact us at [email protected].

Also, we ask to please make sure that your current local President or Treasurer has registered their email with the state executive director so that they get the instructions and details for the new membership year.

Another event cancelled

It is with great sadness that the Dane County Fair Association, Inc. announces the cancellation of the 2020 Dane County Fair due to COVID-19. Recently, a State of Emergency was declared for Dane County until at least July 15, 2020, and the Alliant Energy Center was designated as a community testing site. Numerous other events over the summer have already been canceled, and it is evident that the risk of community spread of COVID-19 will still exist through the summer. The Dane County Fair Association, Inc. Board of Directors assessed the risk to our exhibitors, their families, our volunteers, and the public as well as the uncertainty for social gatherings and the financial implications and determined that we are unable to host the 2020 Dane County Fair scheduled for July 16-19, 2020.

Our youth exhibitors and fair traditions are very important to us, but nothing is more important than the health and safety of every patron that joins us at the Dane County Fair. This consideration also extends to the Fair and 4-H staff, carnival employees, food and commercial vendors, entertainment, dedicated volunteers and judges, and hard-working Chairs and Superintendents who make our Fair possible.

While the Dane County Fair will be canceled this year, the Fair Board has determined that any youth exhibitor who is aging out of participation this year and is enrolled in a 2020 project will be eligible to participate in the 2021 Dane County Fair within the same project areas. This exception is only made for the 2021 Dane County Fair under the Fair Rules. More details to come.

“The Board of Directors fully realize there are a number of kids that have put in an enormous amount of preparation and planning in anticipation of exhibiting one last time at the Fair,” states Darwin Lynde, President of the Dane County Fair Association, Inc. “With this extension, it will give them that opportunity in 2021.”

Sponsor, vendors, and pre-paid ticket holders will have the opportunity to have their payments rolled over to the 2021 Dane County Fair or be issued a full refund. The Dane County Fair staff will reach out to those parties directly to make arrangements.

“This decision was extremely difficult and disappointing for our board, but ultimately the health and safety of our community, attendees, partners, staff, and volunteers are of the utmost importance,” says General Manager, Danielle Ziegler. “We thank our community for their support and understanding, and we look forward to next year when we can all come back together at the 2021 Dane County Fair – July 15-18, 2021.”

On behalf of the Dane County Fair Association, Inc., we wish you good health and thank you for your patience during these unprecedented times.

The Stoughton FFA Alumni is fortunate to be in a strong financial position thanks to our many loyal customers over the years. Saving for the unexpected has been something the FFA Alumni has done for several years- not knowing that a pandemic, rather than bad weather, would curtail sales for its biggest weekend of the year.

The Alumni has donated part of its fees back to the Stoughton Chamber/Syttende Mai Committee to use for to offset 2020 Syttende Mai expenses. It also has allocated $5,000 of donations to help with local efforts to help with hunger, those losing income, and other needs. So far, donations of $2,500 to the Stoughton Food Pantry, $500 to the Stoughton Senior Center, $1,000 to the Personal Essentials Pantry and another $1,000 approved will be sent when recipients are identified. The FFA Alumni is closely watching the status of fairs and meat animal sales and how they can support youth who normally sell meat animal projects through the fair auctions. They are also considering buying meat from local butcher shops and donating to food pantries.

Due to the current COVID-19 outbreak, the 2020 Wisconsin FFA State Convention scheduled for June 15-18, 2020, has been postponed until further notice. The safety and health of Wisconsin FFA members and supporters is a top priority as we pledge to follow all CDC and public health guidelines and recommendations. At the same time, we are committed to providing Wisconsin FFA members with the best State FFA Convention experience possible. The Wisconsin Association of FFA will continue to update everyone with next steps, including an initial online experience for FFA members in June with hopes of hosting an in-person convention later in the summer. We thank you for your continued support of Wisconsin Agriculture Education and the Wisconsin Association of FFA.

Had this email from advisor Mollie: We have 23 flats of strawberries left. I am also letting staff know of the extras so I might not have 23 left by the time people respond.

They are $25/flat, $18/half flat, $5/quart.

They can make checks payable to Stoughton FFA.

They can contact me at 608-403-6271 or by email- [email protected]

I teach at River Bluff in the afternoons and do not typically return to the High School. I suggest they come to the HS by 2:00.

After tomorrow, I can not guarantee quality since they are a fresh product, so I would buy them ASAP if interested.

For those going to the Wisconsin FFA Alumni Convention: For the Saturday evening banquet instead of purchasing dessert from the motel we are having a dessert dash. We are asking attendees to donate their favorite dessert and they will be displayed prior to the Saturday evening banquet for attendees to peruse. Each table will put money in an envelope and the envelope with the highest amounts will get to pick their dessert first etc, etc.

We are well on our way to having enough donated desserts but this e-mail is to see if any of you have a favorite dessert recipe they would like to share for the dessert dash?
You can drop it off at the registration table upon arriving and someone there will take it. We have access to refrigeration and freezers.

If you are interested in donating a dessert you can reply to this e-mail and I will see you in 2 weeks.

Thanks again for you assistance throughout the convention planning process.
