Heath, where’s your filing fee? We didn’t pay. Instead we collected hundreds of petitions: the only candidate running for statewide or federal office in the entire State of New Hampshire who didn’t just pay the $100 fee.

Unlike most of my opponents, I’m not a millionaire. For working people, $100 is a pretty hefty chunk of change. In fact, that’s how much I make as a State Rep for a year’s worth of work. We’re putting our money where our mouth is: getting money out of politics starts by being out in the community, collecting one petition and one vote at a time.

I hope to see you in Concord tomorrow where I will officially file to gain ballot access. We are the only candidate in the entire field that opted to go the petition route rather than pay the $100 fee. We are doing this to make a statement: time and time again, we see the media judge candidates based on their fundraising rather than their volunteer base, polling, or their merits. Only 2% of Congress is working class. That needs to change.

On Thursday I gave my final speech as a New Hampshire State Representative. I was honored to speak on behalf of the family of Nickenley Turenne, a 24 year old man who was shot and killed by Manchester Police last December.

We are demanding the release of the body cam footage and for the officers involved to be placed on desk duty. These are not extreme asks. Nickenley deserves justice, and his family deserves peace.

Sam points out a few important things for voters to consider:

1) Pay attention to where candidates begin on policy, not just where they end up.

2) Candidates should be honest in their fundraising emails. Dishonesty raises broader questions about what candidates are willing to say and do to make money.
