Thank you to everyone who joined us for last Sunday’s Stratford Democrats BBQ and canvass!

It was a fun day filled with great conversations at the doors, good food, and time together with candidates, volunteers, friends, and supporters from across Stratford.

A special thank you to Treasurer Erick Russell and Senator Bob Duff for their powerful words about what Democrats have accomplished, the challenges still ahead, and why it is so important to keep electing strong Democratic leaders like the candidates Stratford continues to put forward.

And a huge shoutout to Chef and Councilor Phil Young, who was at the grill all day and somehow stayed cool and collected the entire time. The food was excellent, and we are grateful for everything he did to help make the day such a success.

Thank you again to everyone who knocked on doors, helped out at headquarters, stopped by for the BBQ, and made the day such a good one.

UPDATE: With respect for the memorial of our wonderful public servant, former Lieutenant Governor Nancy Wyman, we have changed the date.

Join us Sunday, August 23 for a day of canvassing, community, and BBQ with Stratford Democrats!

From 10:00 AM–1:00 PM, we’ll be out knocking doors with Stratford candidates across town. Then from 1:00–4:00 PM, we’ll gather at DTC Headquarters for a community BBQ, candidate remarks, and a chance to meet state and local Democratic leaders.

Come meet State Senator Herron Keyon Gaston, Kaitlyn Shake for State Representative, Joe Gresko for State Representative, Carolann Reid for State Senate, and Mandy Kilmartin for State, enjoy BBQ prepared by Chef and Councilor Phil Young, and spend some time with friends and neighbors.

Congratulations to State Representative Kaitlyn Shake on earning a 100% score from the Connecticut League of Conservation Voters for the second year in a row!

Kaitlyn continues to stand up for clean energy, conservation, environmental justice, and the protection of Connecticut’s natural resources.

We’re proud to have her representing Stratford’s 120th District and working toward a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable Connecticut.

The Connecticut League of Conservation Voters released its annual Environmental Scorecard, a report tracking how each state legislator voted on environmental legislation during the 2026 session of the Connecticut General Assembly. For the second year in a row, I am proud to receive 💯%

At a time when we are seeing more catastrophic effects of climate change, I believe it is critical that we as legislators take action.
I am proud to have voted for policies that support

✅Preserving our beautiful natural resources
✅Fighting for environmental justice here in Stratford and
across Connecticut!

The annual Environmental Scorecard is a report tracking how each state legislator voted on environmental legislation during the 2026 session of the Connecticut General Assembly. This year’s scorecard evaluated certain bills through a lens that considered both how the legislation promoted environmental sustainability and how it contributed to lowering costs for residents and local businesses.

Stratford is showing up.

We are live right now at Town Hall Green for the No Kings rally. Seeing so many neighbors peacefully standing together to defend democracy is incredible. When our families and values are under attack, our community pushes back.

We will be out here until 2 PM. Come down and join the crowd. We are making our voices heard loudly and clearly.

No thrones. No crowns. No kings.
