This is Gustavs! He is a college student from Europe doing his fun summer internship in Sumiton. He just checked in with the Sumiton City Hall and Sumiton Police Department so he will be going door to door in our city. Don't be alarmed, he is very friendly. He is selling educational tools such as books, websites and apps for kids from toddler age up to high schoolers. Following the investigation, an arrest has been made and an individual, Timothy Braden Crawford has been charged with murder.

We ask for your understanding, patience and consideration for those affected as the legal process moves forward.

Additional information will be released when appropriate and in accordance with the law.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty.

Sumiton PD responded at 8:59 PM on June 3 to the 560 block of Highway 78 shopping complex parking lot (near the Walmart ).

Gunshot victim was pronounced deceased at UAB hospital and was sent to the Department of forensic science in Huntsville.

We want the public to know there’s no immediate threat.

The reason why we have not
been releasing any statements is due to the integrity of the investigation and case. We are still continuing to process Evidence, collect video evidence and doing interviews with various witnesses.

We can assure the public there will be no stone left unturned during this investigation. No one has been charged at this time. The police department is in direct communication with the DA’s office as this investigation unfolds.
