Farmland Protection Board
Accepting Applications
The goals for the West Virginia Voluntary Farmland Protection program, both on the local and state level, are to partially off set
development pressures which have led to rapid loss of farmland and open space all over the nation; to encourage the permanent protection of qualifying parcels of farmland; to facilitate the awarding of fi nancial compensation for those who are willing to sell development rights on their property, and to assist those who are willing to donate conservation easements.
Nicholas County Farmland Protection Board will accept applications for conservation easements for the upcoming FY27 until June 30, 2026. If you previously submitted an application, and were not selected for funding, you should have already received an email asking if you’d like to be considered for FY27.
If you would like an application emailed to you, or have any questions, please contact Joan OQuinn at 304-619-4683 or email:
