Support Meals On Wheels of Tampa just by dining in September at any of the locations of the 1905 Family Of Restaurants. That includes all seven locations of the Columbia Restaurant plus Cha Cha Coconuts, Ulele and Casa Santo Stefano .

When you enjoy lunch or dinner, simply select us on the ballot provided with your check and the restaurant calculates the 5 percent donation and provides us with gift certificates that can be used at any of the restaurants for up to 12 months, at no extra cost to you!

Today's special: Tuscan Chicken over penne, served with cauliflower and carrots.

Every meal we deliver is prepared fresh that same morning, on-site in our commercial kitchen — never shipped in, never reheated from a warehouse. It goes out in a recyclable, meal-sized tray and arrives hot, between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Our menu runs on a 28-day rotation so no one eats the same thing week after week, and we offer three menus — Heart Healthy, Diabetic Friendly, and Renal Friendly — each available pureed or chopped. Alongside the hot meal, every Neighbor receives water and a side.

And every delivery comes with a knock at the door and a familiar face. That's the part that isn't on the menu.

Mr. Ken lives alone, and he is careful never to ask anyone for anything.

There are a lot of Mr. Kens in Greater Tampa. Behind quiet doors on ordinary streets, in houses you have driven past a hundred times without a second thought. They don't make noise. That's exactly what makes them easy to miss.

We think about them on weekends, when the routes don't run. We think about them in August, when half the city is somewhere else. And we come back Monday — because being remembered on a schedule is its own kind of love. ❤️

The most common thing we hear from people who almost volunteered: “I wouldn't know what to say.”

You don't have to know. Nobody's asking you to counsel anyone or fix anything. You hand over lunch. You ask how they're doing. You listen for a minute. You say see you Thursday.

That's the entire skill set. If you can be kind at a front door for one hour a week, you're qualified. ❤️
