My heartfelt condolences go out to U.S.Congressman Barney Frank’s husband Jim and their family, former staff, colleagues and countless friends. On May 7 after I heard that Barney entered hospice I called him leaving a message to let him know how much he meant to the people of our region. I wanted him to know how much we cared for him and to thank him for being such a big part of our region’s success. I did not expect to hear back from him but later that day , as always, Barney returned my call. I was honored to have had the opportunity to work with him and his caring staff for many years on issues that impacted our constituents. He was simply the best in following up on constituent issues. He delivered for his District and for America. He was so grateful for the messages and calls he received. He said it made him feel good. We talked about several issues he worked on including when he came to Taunton(see photo) with Ted Kennedy, John Kerry, Mitt Romney. Pat Haddad, and myself to work with Mayor Bob Nunes and local officials to see what could be done with the Whittenton Pond Dam. The City was preparing for a potential major emergency if the Dam were to break placing Downtown Taunton at risk as a result of major flooding.
Thank you Barney for always being there for the individual, the State, and our Country. Rest in Power my friend!
