A firefighter with the North Tooele Fire District has been arrested and faces one charge of s*xual exploitation of a minor after allegedly admitting to viewing child s*x abuse material.

Today, MCSO was announced as the newest member of the Utah Attorney General’s Office, Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Taskforce. This work is absolutely critical to protecting children from s*xual predators. The team not only conducts proactive undercover operations and digital forensics investigations, but they’re also committed to prevention and education. This will be a force multiplier for Millard County, benefitting our schools and community. Sheriff O’Camb is seen here with ICAC Commander Sete Aulai.

The Electronic Storage Detection (ESD) K9s, that is! 🐕‍🦺💻📱

These four-legged investigators are unlike traditional police K9s. ESD K9s are specially trained to use their incredible sense of smell to locate electronic devices capable of storing digital evidence—including cell phones, flash drives, SD cards, trackers, hard drives, and other electronic storage devices.

Working alongside the Utah Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, ESD K9s help investigators locate hidden, concealed, or disguised devices that may contain critical evidence in child exploitation investigations.

But these K9s have another important job. ❤️

As lovable Labrador Retrievers, they also provide comfort and support to officers, agents, victims, and families during some of the most difficult moments they may face. They also play an important role in community outreach, helping children see law enforcement not only as protectors, but as people—and pups—they can trust.

From finding hidden technology to providing a little comfort when it’s needed most, these K9s truly make a difference.

They search. They protect. They comfort. They serve. 🐾💙

This Fourth of July, the Utah Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force proudly stands alongside our law enforcement partners and communities in protecting the freedoms we cherish—especially the safety and well-being of our children. As we gather with family and friends, let us remember that freedom comes with a shared responsibility to look out for one another and build a safer future for the next generation. Wishing everyone a safe, joyful, and meaningful Independence Day. Happy 4th of July! 🇺🇸

Online predators don’t announce themselves.

They show up in your child’s favorite game. In their DMs. In group chats. Grooming happens gradually. A compliment here, a secret there. Until a child feels in too deep to speak up.

June is Internet Safety Month. Utah’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force investigates and prosecutes those who target children online. But parents are the first line of defense.

Watch for these warning signs:
* New online “friends” your child won’t name
* Secretive or guarded phone behavior
* Unexpected gifts or money
* Reluctance to talk about online activity

If something feels wrong, report it at CyberTipline.org or contact local law enforcement immediately.

9 adults targeted children online. And last week, Utah’s ICAC task force was waiting for them. 

Investigators monitored the apps, the platforms, and the chat rooms. Every person charged made a deliberate choice to prey on children. These are not accidents. 

The message for parents?  Know which apps your kids are using and be in them with them. Watch the conversations. You don’t have to be an expert. You just have to be present.
