A successful Bootstrap Academy in the books to start 2026. Several times a year, the Bootstrap Academy is held to train new Utah ICAC investigators, where they learn how to properly investigate a CyberTipline report, describe files of CSAM, hear case studies, history of the ICAC Program, mental health awareness, and much more.

The Bootstrap Academy is a three day course, only offered to ICAC Affiliate Agencies. Instructors are from the Utah Attorney General’s Office.

Utah ICAC investigators from the Cedar City Police Department, Farmington Police Department, FBI, Grand County Sheriff’s Office, Iron County Sheriff’s Office, Logan Police Department, Lone Peak Police Department, Payson Police Department, Perry City Police Department, Price City Police Department, St. George Police Department, Unified Police Department, Utah Tech University Police Department, and Washington City Police Department all participated in this academy.

A Cedar Hills man has been sentenced to 48 years in federal prison for creating child sexual abuse material.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office successfully prosecuted Brent Johnson on federal charges of production and possession of this material, while the Office of the Utah Attorney General also secured convictions for aggravated sexual abuse. OAG prosecutors took the case to trial where Johnson was convicted on all three counts and sentenced to 15 years in life on each count.

We appreciate the dedicated work of the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Homeland Security Investigations, Utah County Sheriff’s Office, and American Fork Police Department in holding this offender accountable.
