Grief doesn't always look like sadness.

Sometimes grief shows up as:

→ Anger - at the person who left, at the world, at yourself for not doing enough
→ Numbness - feeling nothing when you think you "should" be feeling everything
→ Restlessness - can't sit still, can't focus, can't settle
→ Physical symptoms - exhaustion, headaches, chest tightness, stomach problems
→ Withdrawal - pulling away from people, cancelling plans, going quiet

None of these mean you're doing grief "wrong." They mean your mind and body are processing something enormous.

As a Certified Grief Educator, I help people understand that grief isn't one feeling - it's a full-body experience that doesn't come with instructions.

If grief has been showing up in ways you didn't expect, you're not alone - and you're not broken.

Stress isn't a character flaw. It's your nervous system doing what it's designed to do - the problem is when it gets stuck.

These tools help you shift out of survival mode so you can actually think clearly again.

For everyone who's been told they should be "over it by now" - you're not behind. Grief moves at its own pace, and anyone who tells you otherwise hasn't walked your road.

As a Certified Grief Educator, I've seen how much damage the "move on" message does. Healing isn't forgetting. It's learning to carry it differently.

𝗦𝗮𝗱𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘃𝘀. 𝗗𝗲𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻

Sadness and depression are not the same thing - but most people can't tell the difference.

Here's a quick breakdown:

SADNESS:
• Usually tied to a specific event (breakup, loss, disappointment)
• Comes in waves - you can still have good moments
• Eases over time, even if slowly
• You can still connect with people, even when hurting

DEPRESSION:
• Often has no clear trigger - it just... settles in
• Feels constant, heavy, like a weight you can't put down
• Affects sleep, appetite, energy, concentration
• Makes you withdraw - not because you want to, but because you don't have the energy
• Lasts weeks, months, sometimes longer

If the heaviness hasn't lifted in two weeks and daily life feels like wading through concrete - that's worth paying attention to.

You're not being dramatic. You're not "just sad." And you don't have to figure it out alone.

As a Certified Grief Educator, I work with people who are navigating loss - whether it happened last month or ten years ago.

There's no timeline. There's no "right way." There's just the way through, and you don't have to walk it alone.

This one's for the person who keeps saying "I'm fine" because they don't think their problems are "bad enough" for therapy.

Your pain doesn't need a permission slip.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month.

But let's be honest - awareness without action is just a hashtag.

Here's what I wish more people understood about mental health:

→ Struggling doesn't mean you're broken. It means you're human.
→ Therapy isn't just for crisis. It's for the Tuesday afternoon anxiety that won't quit, the sadness that settled in and never left, the relationships that drain you dry.
→ Asking for help isn't weak. It's one of the hardest, bravest things you'll ever do.

This month, I'll be sharing real talk about anxiety, depression, grief, stress, and what it actually looks like to take care of your mental health - not the Instagram version.

If you've been thinking about therapy but keep putting it off... this is your sign.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month - and this is your reminder that looking fine on the outside doesn't mean you're fine on the inside.

If any of this sounds familiar, therapy can help you stop white-knuckling your way through life.

Saying no is not cruel.

It is honest. And honesty, delivered with care, is one of the most respectful things you can offer another person.
