Some responsibilities of this job include: attending court proceedings to determine bond conditions, monitoring defendants through phone calls, field contacts and personal contacts, compiling monthly reports of daily magistrates, ensuring defendants comply with the bond release conditions set by the court, plus much more.

Position: Substance Abuse Treatment Facility (SATF) Resident Monitor

Job summary: Requires constant monitoring/supervision and documentation of SATF residents’ activities in order to ensure compliance with the facility’s procedures/rules and compliance with conditions of supervision. Resident Monitors must have constructive interaction with SATF residents in order to be responsive to resident needs. Resident Monitors shall employ a spirit of common sense and courtesy in order to develop and maintain a professional, positive working relationship with SATF residents and SATF staff.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands: The Resident Monitor works a minimum 40-hour week under stressful conditions in order to accomplish job related tasks. Flexible hours and shift work required. Schedule may include evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time, be able to bend, stoop, push, pull, lift and move about the facility periods of time and freely and unassisted. May be required to lift up to fifty (50) pounds on occasion. Must be able to travel in/outside the city environment with little notice to attend training and/or participate in program development seminars. Must be capable of delivering CPR/First Aid, and responding to emergency situations (physical and natural) as needed.


Responsibilities:

1.​Duties and responsibilities as described in the above job summary.

2.​Prioritize all assignments and complete assignments in timely manner.

3.​Responsible for certain elements of the intake, orientation and discharge process of SATF residents.

4.​Monitors/supervises and records SATF resident activity including but not limited to: dining, physical training, recreational activities, community service restitution, extra duty, volunteer duty, inside AA meetings, visitation, classroom attendance, distribution of prescription/over the counter medication, laundry detail, departures, arrivals and deviations regarding passes.

5.​Conducts head counts of SATF residents.

6.​Conducts inspections of SATF resident rooms/lockers.

7.​Conducts thorough physical pat downs/strip searches of SATF residents.

8.​Obtains breath/urine samples from SATF residents for screening purposes.

9.​Upon being made aware of (personal observation or third-party notification) rule violations or extraordinary positive behavior, resident monitors shall immediately notify (either verbally or in writing) SATF residents of said behavior.

10.​Enforces sanctions imposed on SATF residents by the SATF disciplinary board or other authority.

11.​Issues supplies and equipment to SATF residents.

12.​Receives and receipts accounts payable by SATF residents including but not limited to: resident fees, transportation fees, and laundry fees. Resident monitors are responsible for securing all monies in the SATF safe.

13.​Conducts surveillance of SATF facility and grounds for security and safety purposes.

14.​Registers visitors/vendors into the visitation log and monitors their activity while they are on facility property.

15.​Implements emergency disaster/medical drills and procedures as warranted.

16.​Receives all incoming telephone calls.

17.​Reports to the Resident Monitor Shift Leader any and all personnel problems.

18.​Uses universal precautions when dealing with residents as a precaution against contracting infectious diseases including but not limited to: Hepatitis, AIDS/HIV and sexually transmitted diseases.

19.​Assists in the transportation of SATF residents to work, medical appointments or other approved destinations.

20.​Performs other assigned tasks as directed by Resident Monitor Shift Leader or Facility Director.

Qualifications:

Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent and supervisory experience in a residential setting. College degree/credits in the field of human behavior, criminal justice, psychology or sociology while not required may substitute for supervisory experience. Must be able to operate a personal computer and associated software. Must possess a valid driver’s license and liability insurance. Must have a working telephone at their residence and/or cell phone. Possess effective communication skills (verbal, written and listening). Must meet drug screening/criminal history criteria upon hire and periodic examination.

Job Summary: This position provides for the necessary coordination/supervision and transportation of community service workers assigned to projects through the education center. Also, ensures operation and availability of equipment required for the community service projects.

Responsibilities:

1. Responsible for the supervision of community service workers.
2. Responsible for transporting community service workers to community service project sites.
3. Responsible for maintaining all community service equipment.
4. Maintain necessary documentation on attendance and hours worked of community service workers.
5. Responsible for writing and furnishing necessary community service reports as required.
6. Coordinate daily with the Department Community Service Coordinator.
7. Perform all other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director and/or Director.

Qualifications:

Should possess a valid driver license with a good driving record. Must have demonstrated experience and ability to maintain and operate various types of lawn and garden equipment. Must also be able to maintain the van used in transporting community service workers. Must possess at least a high school diploma with the ability to operate a personal computer and the associated software. Must have good oral and written skills. Must be able to communicate well with persons on community supervision, officers, supervisors, client agencies and officials of other agencies.

Job Summary: Provides health care screening, education, evaluation, instruction and counseling to facility residents. Evaluates facility resident medical needs/requests and subsequently provides and/or arranges medical treatment (appointment etc.…) within the guidelines of the LVN/RN license. Carries out physician’s orders and acts as a liaison between the residential facility and medical/pharmaceutical professionals. Prepares and dispenses medications. Supervises self-administration. Trains staff in the area of self-administration of medication. Maintains and oversees the inventory and security of all facility residents’ medication. Assures CJAD standards in reference to medication are adhered to. Shall employ a spirit of common sense and courtesy in order to develop and maintain a professional, positive relationship with facility residents and other staff.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands: The Licensed Vocational Nurse/Registered Nurse works a minimum 40-hour week under stressful conditions in order to accomplish job related tasks. 6. Assures residents’ rights are protected and reports any violation to the Facility Director.

7. Adheres to licensure standards/rules governing confidentiality.

8. Acts with little or no supervision.

9. Adheres to and enforces all rules, regulations, policies and procedures of the SATF facility.

10. Attends and participates in all facility staff meetings.

11. Reports to Facility Director any and all personnel problems.

12. At the request of the Facility Director, investigate, complete a written report and make recommendations in regard s to alleged staff and/or resident misconduct.

13. Uses universal precautions when dealing with residents as a precaution against contracting infectious diseases including but not limited to: Hepatitis, HIV/AIDS, and sexually transmitted diseases.

14. May be required to transport residents in an emergency situation.

15. Other assigned duties as requested by the Facility Director.

Qualifications:

Must have graduated from an accredited school of nursing. Must possess current certification as Licensed Vocational or Registered Nurse issued by the Texas State Board of Nurse Examiners. Must possess solid understanding of the dynamics of the disease of addiction and various programs types pertinent to the addictive personality. Be able to operate a personal computer and associated software. Prefer prior experience in the Criminal Justice System. Must have a valid driver’s license and provide proof of liability insurance in accordance with the Texas Motor Vehicle Safety Responsibility Act. Must meet criminal history/drug screen criteria upon hire and periodic examination as per state standards and department policy.
