Well, the state competition is officially over for 2018. In attendance was some tough competition from all over the state of Texas as well as a team from Topeka, KS, Gulfport, MS, and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection. Congratulations to the other posts who placed as well as the ones who didn’t. A lot of hard work was done by all. Our Explorers placed in two events. Team “A” placed 1st in Misdemeanor Traffic Stops and Team “B” placed 2nd in Domestic Disturbance. We are proud of every member of our Post, some that couldn’t attend, for all their hard work Without all of their commitment and dedication, these accomplishments would not be possible.

The Explorers had a busy day today celebrating July 4th. They started the morning by being the color guard for the parade and then they helped perform security patrols and traffic control at the Liberty By The Lake celebration and fireworks show. It was a long, hot day, but the Explorers did a fantastic job.

Explorers participated in hostage negotiation training where they had to negotiate with a subject who committed a robbery and while trying to escape, kidnapped a bystander. While negotiating with the suspect they had to secure the release of the hostage and the surrender of the suspect without anyone getting hurt. The Explorers got to experience the “hot seat”, seeing just how difficult it could be speaking with a suspect, gathering information, and persuading them to do what the negotiator wanted. All of the Explorers seemed very stressed by this exercise.
